Was i the only one disappointed with that ending last night. Too many loose ends that they didn't tie up. But they have you guessing if Tony did get wacked along with Carmela and AJ, Meadow might have been safe. But that was one big disappointment for a series finale

Yeah I thought I lost signal and was missing all the shooting. It just went black for what seemed like 60 seconds before credits started rolling.
Here is something to think about.
A few episodes ago Bobby and Tony were sitting on a boat, fishing I think. I can't remember exactly who said what, but they were talking about when the end comes, I guess when you get whacked, what its liked. One of them said, "Nothing, it just goes black"
You could play with this one all day as to different theories. David Chase sure gets the Andy Kaufman award for this cruel joke as I imagine many angry viewers were calling their cable companies thinking they lost the feed and the last crucial seconds of the final episode. Below, another theory. Not mine.
On that dark, cold night, snow spitting down... Tony made his deal with the Fed. The tradeoff? Where is Phil Leotardo. Tell me where he is, and I give up this thing, and come with you.
The phone call comes. Phil is located. Phil is done.
The Fed says "we won".
Tony ties up loose ends, says goodbye to the few left standing, and even to Syl, and Junior. He makes sure that his sister is taken care of as well.
He gives the business to Paulie on the stoop of meat store. Paulie first refuses, saying he is too old for this, and then as an old friend decides to take it after all.
A safe meet is set up. In AJ's fragile state, the feds set up a special meet at the movie office and lay out the whole thing for him. AJ is cool with this.
Safe meet place, a dive restaurant... some cheezy diner...filled with undercover feds armed to the teeth. They were sitting on practically every other open seat in the room.
The music... "Don't stop believing". Tony asks rhetorically to AJ that he is sure that he really likes the new "deal".
Meadow finally arrives.
Screen goes black to suggest the end of "the life"
and
the beginning of a new life. In the witness protection program.
This is where the new Soprano story begins.

But that was one big disappointment for a series finale I haven't kept up with the series this season, but I seem to remember that Tony's father was wacked in a restaurant just as Tony walked in the door. In fact, wasn't that the traumatic event that started Tony's panic attacks?? The fact that you hear the door bell (Meadow's entrance?) a half-second before the screen goes blank seems like too much of a coincidence.

I thought it was a HUGE let down for the Soprano fans. There was no closure for a series ending and the overall episode was ho-hum. I mean, a quick 2min meeting to resolve differences and a quick take down of a boss to clear the air or so it seemed. Last weeks episode had more substance to it than this week. BOOOOOOOO!!!!

I think it was the PERFECT ending. It lets you draw your own conclusions and make your own ending. I would have hated it if the best show ever ended in some neat little package - happy ending or bloody shootout. If the family got taken out, the complaint would've been - "Carm, Meadow and AJ didn't deserve it". If it it was a happy ending (I'm not sure how that could happen), we all would've complained too.
The series was full of surprises. Even when you could see something coming, they added a little twist that threw you for a loop. Like Phil's head popping. Holy geez, who saw that coming? Or how about the way Chrissy went?
So the ending was perfectly in the spirit of the series - unexpected. But talk about tension in that diner scene. The Members Only jacket was the piece de resistance. I have to find one and wear it on Halloween. Only diehard Soprano fans will get it.

If Tony indeed got whacked I don't think that his family would have got it. Doesn't usually go that way. When they did Phil his family in the vehicle didn't get it.

I don't watch the Sopranos due to the violence and glorification of crime and making thugs look cool. I just feel that a lot of young males don't get the show. Its part of the problem we face in society.
Very bad for our kids wouldn't ya say?
Damn good show otherwise!:D

I'm a huge fan of Mafia history. I like the movies ok, Goodfellas being my favourite, but I prefer watching the A&E specials on the true life facts and stories.
I wasn't really a fan of Sopranos, only watching the series sporadically, until it was announced that the show was ending. I then watched the full season 6 just to see what happenned. It was mostly pretty boring with the exception of the second last show. The last show was pretty boring but I don't know whether I hate or love the very ending. It definitely serves its purpose in creating discussion.

If I had a way I'd do it for you, as all episodes are available on TMNOD. But I don't have a PVR or DVD recorder on my set.
I'm waiting for the DVD box set in hopes that I'll get to see the other 2 alternate endings.

Not sure how that works. I can find out.
I guess the official word is you can't record via PVR an on demand program
That kind of sucks.
