I'm playing grey silo this wednesday morning at 9 for the first tiem. I live in downtown (next to the Univerisity of Toronto), how long would the drive take and when should I leave the house?

Thanks for voicing out.

With no traffic it will take about an hour and 10 mins... but for a 9am tee time coming into waterloo at that time can be busy. Give yourself some extra time with early morning traffic. They have a nice range there so if your early you can always hit a few balls!!!

...I would allow at least 90 minutes! (when I go from Yonge & 401)

give yourself two hours, far more folks on the highway that wanna drive just below the speed limit these days.

I'd second the two hours, especially since it's golf on the other end. If you were going up there for a root canal, OTOH, I'd say 90 minutes.

What route would be the best?
I was thinking QEW then 427 then 401. It'll still take 2 hours eh. Would the traffic be better if I bump the tee time to around 10 or 11?
What's the general pace of play there? I will have to get back to downtown before 6.

i live in kitchener and drive to burlington everyday, the highway coming off the 401 is backed up almost every morning to a standstill - plan your time accordingly, that said, grey silo is a great track - one of my favorite in this area - you will enjoy ! chris

leave at 630, should get there by 8:15, time to warmup and eat!

albtlau, that is probably the best route, however, depending on timing, the earlier you leave the better, rush hour in the morning is a killer. the closer to 6:30 you can leave, the better, but no later than 7. and pray that there isnt an accident backing up the 401 at its choke point at hurontario. a possible alternate, in case of heavy traffic, take the 427 to the 407 to the 401. It may be significantly easier.

I would give yourself 1.5 hours

Don't forget that you'll be rolling in to Kitchener-Waterloo at rush hour, and traffic can get pretty rude on Highway 8 into Kitchener and on 85 coming into Waterloo.

I had a chance to play it on Father's Day, BUT, my father didn't want to play golf...2 of my friends played it, and said it was TOUGH! (one is a 9 handicap, he shot 88!)

tip: Great 'dogs/sausages at 'the turn' ;)

Still a Top 5 track for me in Southern Ontario, and a MUST PLAY for EVERYONE....in the same way that EVERYONE should try King's Forest, Copetown Woods, Thundering Waters, Watson's Glen, Willow Valley, Silver Lakes, Heritage Hills, Tangle Creek, Timber Ridge to name a few... :)

Grey Silo is superb. Play it once, you'll want to go back.
