I've been considering purchasing a Segway to use as a cart. My boss bought one for the company and I've done some buzzing around the parking lot on it. It seems like lots of fun, I can put it in the back of my truck, and there is a model built specifically for golf (http://www.segway.com/personal-transporter/model_x2_Golf.html). Has anyone tried or seen one being used on a course?

That is incredibly cool. I've never seen one used before but I'm sure it'd be a blast.

Saw a similar model with the large tires in Siesta Key in May, guy had a leg injury and used this daily to get to the beach and to cruise up and down the beach, handles the sand well to it should handle the fairways and rough well too. For the price of them they better.

They are not cheap. I believe they are a little less than a regular cart, but a whole lot more fun. It's a blast running around the parking lot, and my boss rode it 4 blocks to the bank, into the front door, and up to the teller's window! The golf model has larger than normal tires and low pressure so it won't damage fairways. I'd love to hear from some golf course supers/managers/club pros to see if their club would allow someone to use one there.

In Canada, it appears that this model is listed in the high $6K range.

DaveMy boss hasn't checked on the price of the golf model, but the standard Segway was about $1100 less (before tax) in Buffalo than here. That's worth the trip.

There are golf courses in the SW USA that rent these out as an option to carts or walking. So ya, they work on a golf coures. Not sure about hilly terrain though.

Hi Gos,

There's a girl that I know who's dad is the North American distributor of Segway. I see him riding a off road Segway in the mall parking lot. He's based out of Calgary.

LMK if you want me to check out prices for you.

Segways are also really popular for security patrols now too, because of the manueverability and turning radius. I think it'd be great for golf.

I'm still working on getting the boss to get one for the company (he's more of a golf nut than I am:D ) so I can steal it for the day!! I'll let you know.
