He is a Nike guy.

Why does he play a Titleist/Cameron putter, that has a PING grip on it?

my understanding is that tiger has always played a blacked out ping grip - he just likes the way it feels, funny i see some guys at the club with a cameron putter with a ping grip and just smile, you know the only reason they are doing that is because of tiger

Funny thing is I am the exact opposite!

I love some of the Cameron grips, but have never found a Cameron putter that is just right. (although I do like the Newport Detour model, even though it is a bit wacky).

Hmmm. Maybe that's why Tiger shoots what he shoots, and I am just a tad higher.

i have had 3 or 4 camerons in the past and all have been slightly closed - i could not put with them - about a year or so ago i found a newport tour made in 1996 - it was brand new when i bought it - black oxide finish all original with an a coa rating - it is one of the few camerons that i had ever held in my hands that sat square to my eyes - just my opinion

A lot of guys use the Ping grip because it's about a quarter the price of a Cameron grip and the most popular grip in the last 20 years.

I play a ping grip because I like the way it feels and has nothing to do with Tiger, why don't you ask the guys at your club, you might be surprised at what they say.

putting is all about feel - it that grip works for you then by all means use it, but when i see the ping grip on the cameron - you have to think about tiger, there is nothing wrong with it - hell i think he is the best putter i have ever seen, but to think it has nothing to do with tiger is just not realistic

Speaking of Ping's, i just switched to a 35 inch Zing 5 BECU with a Mid size kelmac. Quite an unseenly putter compared to the i usually keep in the stable.

Lights out today though.

Definitely a few people doing it just because of Tiger. Why black it out then?

I have seen this with some of the Camerons I have. too I had a IBBF Faxon and it was definitely open. Beautiful but to light for me. The Duval is Square.

Most tour putters are square to open just like drivers it seems.

He always used a Ping and mostly an Anser 2 SS with Pingman grip. Scotty made him a few puuters till th eone he has now whcih has stayed in th ebag for a long time.

Hopefully he switches to a Nike soon. If he putts poorly maybe he will finally change. Cameron's will take a hard hit. Scotty chasing th eyoung to keep it going along with the old vets that stick around but players are changing cause everybody makes a nice putter or have one made for you.

Like anything, the Cameron Bubble is due for a burst.

I'm the same with the Cameron grip. I use one on all my putters. I think it's called 'dancing letters'.

The reason Tiger does it, back then the dancing Cameron grips weren't available so he used the Ping grip then used black marker to black the white lettering. Now Ping makes the grip already blacked out. Maybe the same reason for the guys at your course.I personally love those grips as well but now Scotty makes them so I use his. I like the dancing logo on it.

I use the black out Ping grip on my YES. Just feels better and has nothing to do with Tiger. If I had a Cameron Id keep the stock grip. Virtually the same. Word is Tiger has the Nike unitized putter in his bag as his back up and is using it quite a bit. He'll switch soon I bet. His putting over the last few tournys has been a bit shaky. Oakmont doesn't count. Those greens are rediculous.
