Apparently this is taking place today at Lora Bay with Ames, Ogilvy, Monty, Daly, and Goosen.

I think the first day is on TSN tonight at 7:30 pm.

I imagine it is worth tuning in just to check out the golf course....

Early Monday evening, the day after the U.S. Open eh? Couldn't they think of a worse place to put it on the schedule?

Next you'll tell me that Rod Black is the commentator.

My "In Laws" are volunteering for the skins.. They live in the Lora Bay Development.. They actually have to PAY to be a volunteer.. they are also members of the course!!

It will be such a difference between Oakmont and Lora Bay!! I am looking forward to see what Lora Bay looks like on TV.. It is very nice in person !!

anyone else out there think that the commentary is total crap, they were talking about monty for the longest time, then they started to talk about how these guys are such under rated putters

Played this course this past Friday. Fairways were as hard and fast as any I have ever played........they will be hitting bombs. Greens were almost flawless so they should be scaring the hole on a regular basis as well.

Rod Black NEVER does! That's why he does so well at horse jumping - the horses can't answer him! :D

i'm looking fwd to the coverage today, comments and interviews and all!
Following Ogilvy's tap-in bird on #9, Ames had a great putt yesterday to push that massive carryover into today , and took the pressure off JD to make his birdie putt.

Be careful what you wish for.............They could always bring back Fergie Oliver................

1980's Blue Jays commentator Fergie is famous for saying "He slides into second with a stand-up double"...........

I don't think Ogilvy said one thing (unless directly) asked during the round table. Is it me or even JD seemed drier then the Grey Goose Vodka they are promoting? Man, what happened to all those skins games with interesting personalities? I nominate Bubba Watson to be invited to challenge JD for the title next year.

LOL i think bubba might be too much of a prototypical american for us canadians to enjoy. He does however remind me of myself when I flub chip shots. Actually no, he reminds me more of my triple bogeys

On second thought bring back Fergie !!!!!! PLEASE !!!!

I watched tonights match and wanted to turn the volume down when Rod was "prattling". This guy is unreal...........

I know he has always had good ratings for figure skating and horse jumping. Likely due to the high female audience. Though some ladies expressed to me that they miss his 70's "porn star" mustache. Oh well at least he still has the "porn star" name................

"Drive for Show ... Putt for Dough" ... kinda.
in this year's Skins Game, "Length Matters" ...
I mean on #16 yesterday, everyone else was hitting 3w for their 2nd shot and couldn't hit/hold the green ... meanwhile, I think JD hits a short-iron for his 2nd thanks to his massive length off the tee.
Fun format to watch.

Wow, you could hear a pin drop during the post round segment. Rod Black was HORRIBLE! His monotonous drivel has no upbeat energy etc to spark any sort of conversation. He seems like he's forcing a conversation like he's constipated. When Rod was introducing the players around the table, he seemed to stumble when he came to Colin like he'd forgotten his first name and could only call him by his nickname.

During the round, one of the guys hit it out ofthe rough and it came out hot and one of the commentators said "Oh looks like that came out a little WARM out of the rough." Who says that????

Oh and Rod's comment after Daly hit his drive,"and the ball <pause> is in the air and.... <pause> now on the fairway." WOW!

I hate watching/listening to the Canadian commentators. Its like they have no freakin clue what planet they are on! Bob Weeks? Sandra Post? Thats the best talent they have for on air...and they blew!

On to the golf though, man, did Goosen have a case of the pulls/hooks or what? Everything was left.

Great to see Monty out there enjoying himself. The commentators bringing up the "Rabbit Ears" during the telecast was stupid. Anything to fill the dead air I suppose. Who wouldnt react in the Ryder Cup, one of the most stressful golfing situations ever, and the "fans" screaming at you, calling you names, etc.....they would be lucky if my 3-iron missed their head. :hush:

Those wounds caused by steak knife sure healed quickly.

 I was thinking the same thing!

Totally Agree! My hate for Rod Black grows each day! I keep on saying this but he needs to stick to figure staking and hoarse jumping that way i can rest assured that i will never have to sit through a another show with this guy!

Does anyone think Daly made a quick stop into Rama on his way home?

Black may be better than any alternative that TSN has. Since they only do television for a couple of golf events each year (and this year, I think they're limited to this event only, since CBS is covering the Canadian Open) they're not going to hire a golf-specialist for the gig ... so they'll go with a stock announcer. Black may be the best suited for the job of any TSN broadcaster.

The focus of Canadian sports broadcasters is hockey, and they come up short when covering any other sport. TSN is no exception. So if it's not going to be Rod Black doing the golf ... who do they go with? I'm not sure that anyone else they have would be better in the role.

I'd rather see Michael Landsberg from Off The Record doing interviews and on course commentary. Now that would be entertaining!

I think that's a great idea! Someone from TSN must be a member on TGN:cool:

True enough! but if they are going to keep promoting that they have coverage of all the majors then why wouldnt they go after someone with a little more knowledge! Why only go half way on this! Sure you can get the coverage but is anyone going to watch if you have total bafoons giving you the coverage? I won't

I was gonna say the same exact thing. They can do worse, they could have had Vic Router.

Sandra Post is a bubbling idiot of an on course commentator. She's no Dottie Pepper that's for sure.

The most interesting commentary coming out of that broadcast was what the players were talking about. I can't believe they cut to a commercial when they started talking about Adam Scott being mentioned on Maria Sharapova's website.

I won'tIf I were TSN, I would get a golf commentator to do the job if it were an event like the Canadian Open ... I'd even hire (gasp!) a non-Canadian for the job, if necessary to get someone who could really do the job. I'm not sure I'd go out of my way too much for the Telus Skins Game, though.

That said, Global carried the Watson-Nicklaus event in PEI last year, and they hired Feherty to be in the broadcast booth ... so I don't see why TSN couldn't do the same.

The coverage was to say the least boring......BORING!!! Is Rod Black related to someone at CTV. I can't understand how he keeps that gig.

Telus should spring the $$$ to bring up some real commentators.

I'll pose this question. Is there anyone at TSN who would be worse than Rod Black (including Domi)? Now if they brought Kypreos over from Sportsnet I would have to reword my question.
