I'm just getting ready to leave my desk and go outside to witness the funeral procession for Trooper Caswell.
Bowmanville, though growing, is still very much a small town and many people have a connection with Trooper Caswell. It's a sad day and it is the price we pay for security. As we loose more and more soldiers all parts of Canada are being reminded that the security they are dying to protect was bought in blood 60 years ago and occassionally we have to pay somemore to keep it.
It was somewhat emotional for me (5 years in the Navy) but it was nice to see the shop keepers come out to the street, people stopped their cars and got out to pay respect. Even teenagers stopped what they where doing.
