I played there on Tuesday, after the rain at about 6pm. (I checked a radar website and it looked like the rain was done.) CC has a long nine and a short one. I played the long nine in under 1:45 and only saw one other golfer in the distance. I think the weather had scared others away. Also got the evening rate $22. I am not as demanding about courses as most, but I think CC was in good shape. Greens were fine, not too fast when I played (still wet). Fairways had a bit of brown. Rough is grown up and eats balls. Some longish walks between holes and there is a lot of woods so bug repellant might be handy. A couple chances for even big hitters to use drivers.
I like CC. It is not the toughest layout (which is fine by me), but it is usually in good to excellent condition.

The long nine has two weak holes, the 1st and 9th. Greens are usually fast and well groomed. I like it for the twlight rate.

I've played CC about 20-30 times as I live about 5-6 min. away. It's a pretty good 9 hole course for the money. I will often take a cart (something like an extra $10-$12) because, as mentioned, there are some pretty good hikes to the next hole's tees - you need to pack a lunch to go from the 4th green to the 5th tee!
I've yet to play it this year but condition wise it's usually pretty good.

LIR,
I kind of agree about the ninth hole not being too challenging. There is a bit of a bowl around the green, which is elevated but very reachable. But I find the first plenty difficult, with water in my prime slice area and a bunker next to the green that I hit when I'm not in the drink. Could you elaborate on the weakness?

Sure ! Not that I'm the longest hitter out there but the green is quite driveable, depending on the tee blocks, for me its been a 3 wood or 5 wood draw (lefty golfer) with a favourable wind. Although, I have found the water as well when my pull hook makes a nasty appearance. If my warm up went well I will go for it, otherwise a 5 or 6 iron lay up, especially if its busy and I don't want to hold peeps up.
I have heard from more than few of my friends who are close to scratch that they do not like this hole at all.
For me, even though its very short, I like the 9th. The green can be treacherous with some of the pin placements, although for some reason unkown to me (and I wish I knew!!!) I have chipped it for birdies 3 times.
For a short hole, its much better than say the 14th at Royal Ontario.
I don't mind the walks between the holes as much cause I usually play only 9 holes.
If they built a real club house, added another 9,back up the tee deck on 1 ( not sure if they can fix #9), lengthen #4 ( I have driven the marshy woods on the right more times than I should, you would think I'd pull the right club one of these times!) they would have a real gem here at a great location.
The only other thing that can be strange (from last year anyway) is some of the marshalls are on dubbies or something.....
