I was looking for some great value courses in and around the GTA, and me and some buddies played Seaton yesterday morning, $45 including cart on a weekend! For that price I am not expecting a spectacular course, but it was very good (not to mention that I broke 90 for the first time), definitely worth the $45 including cart for a Sunday morning.

So I was searching for more deals and I noticed that Annandale has a 4 for 2 on the weekend, which comes out to $38 including cart for a par 71, 6000 yard course. I took a look at the layout, and it has a lot of water holes, and bunkers etc. But when I did a search on this site for this course, all I see are 'goat track', or 'promising course but owners don't care', etc. I was hoping someone could elaborate on why this is such a 'crappy course', b/c for $38 including cart on a weekend (at 1pm), it's kinda hard to pass up!

(please don't make unfair comparisons with courses that are twice or 3 times the price).

Basically is it worth playing for that rate?!?

I haven't been out this year so I can't comment on the current conditions.

Its gets a bad rap for a few things; lots of tournys with drunken hackers chewing up the course with golf carts, memberships starting at $400, so it can get busy and backed up, the fairways can get dried up and very hard and sandy, and I dont think its 6000 yards. I use it occausionally for the twlight rate just for specific practice on something I am working on.

Basically the land is being held for fuure development and used as a golf course in the intrim to cover costs. The course has a few interesting holes but is usually not in great condition.
Having said that at $38 it is only a little more than a couple of driving range sessions so I would say a reasonable value.

PS Do not trust their yardages LOL

Thank for the input! According to the scorecard it's 6100 yards from the blues, 5859 from the whites. So it does have pretty good length. I guess I'll have to call that day to see if there are any tourney's going on.

At a reduced rate, it's not too bad, but as others have said, be prepared to wait. We played there a few weeks ago on a Friday morning, and the first three holes took an hour to play. It got a little better after that, but the round still took 5 hours.

Many years ago, I had one of their weekday memberships before I knew any better.

To sum things up, the conditions are usually terrible - especially in the summer. Fairways are hard as concrete and the greens aren't much better. The pace of play is horrific - I once walked off after taking 3 1/2 hours to play the front 9!

The choice to try it for $38 is all yours - but don't say you weren't warned...

My first impression was as follows... tee-ed off the first hole... clubhouse was horrific but for that price I figured I can overlook it.... (not that important to me anyways)...

The thing that killed it for me was when I got to the first green... it was up on this mound (picture a dinner table stuck under the ground), and the green grass was identical to the fringe and fairway... felt like I was putting in my back yard....

I would say this is a good course for very beginners to get a membership and learn the game... once you start to appreciate quality golf however, this has to be one of the worst maintained courses I have ever played...

I would add its good for retired folk that can be first out during the week days. My dad was a member and had a good group of friends for a couple of regular (everyday) foursomes. Some of these guys were actually quite good with some posting scores in the low 80's (beat me!). I always had fun playing with guys as they were some interesting colourful characters.

I love the practice area above the range too. The course itself is not very well maintained, but if you don't mind shaggy greens there is nothing wrong with Annandale. As the old saying goes...you get what you pay for. Close to the 401 too. If I lived out there I'd get a membership for the kids, and would definetly use the practice facilities.

Played 2 years ago on a 2 for 1 and found the same issues as most people do. Rock hard fairways (which made for some of my longest drives that season) greens were just a little softer. My biggest issues are that a lot of people who go there aren't too keen on etiquette and the layout had holes too close together. My buddy and I almost go hit on 3 occasions from errant golf balls and without yells of 'fore'.

I played it about 2-3 years ago.
If I remember correctly, it was around July or August.
Place was very packed.
Greens were on the small side and not very well kept (shaggy).
Yardage markers appeared to be completely wrong, even on the tee boxes on the par 3's.

There is one hole that you play up to and the area in front of the green is almost vertical, so if you are short, you have no lie, no stance, like playing from the sod wall of a British bunker.

There are several holes where you cross over in front of someone elses tee box to get to your next teeing area.

We had a better deal than 2 for 1 and it was not worth it.

Good News, they have reduced rates thru LMG
Bad News, they could be called "Banty's Roost East!" :$ :p
