Let's hope that this is finally it. Please make this the end of the road for "Iron Mike". He wasn't the smartest or biggest heavyweight of all- time. Let's face it, the guy probably had trouble spelling his own name. But nobody could touch this guy inside the ring from 1985-1990. He had one of the best uppercuts in the history of the sport. It was simply devastating. His left hook would have taken Hootie Johnsons head off. Tyson was a machine. His record stands at 50-6-2 with 44 knockouts.

Mike knows it's over. After his latest fight he said that he no longer wanted to disrespect the sport by losing to "that calibre of fighter". He still needs money, but doesn't want to disrespect HIMSELF inside the ring anymore. Let's not remember him as an ear biting thug. He was one heck of a heavyweight champ. Watch some video from '87 or '88 and I'm sure you'll agree. The slab of meat he lost to last night wouldn't have cut it as a decent sparring partner for Mike in the eighties.

Tyson was great. I am too young to have really appreciated him but he was one hell of a fighter. He will find something to do if he can stay out of jail. I saw him on a late night show, Conan I think, doing a skit that was super funny. Most of the jokes where at his expense too. I could see him doing some form of entertainment in the future provided he doesn't snap again.

Tysons' career has been over for a while, it is definitely time for him to give it up.

tyson had it all. left hook, upper cut as 962b said and a nasty right hand too. the guy was a tank. he came straight at you and pounded at you until you gave up. had he continued his meteoric start, would have been one of the best of all time, imo.

too bad a guy with so much natural talent let it all slip away.

if he does finally call it quits, i will try to remember the early part of his career bc the latter part was disgraceful. :nono:

I saw a photo of Mike sitting on his butt with his head partially between the ropes in todays paper. He looked like he didn't want to get up off the canvas to face the world. Couldn't help but notice in the same shot, two guys in the crowd laughing at him. They probably wouldn't be doing that in 1987 when he was the baddest man on the planet. Tyson doesn't want people laughing at him anymore. I don't know how he's going to come up with $40 million to get out of debt, but I wish him well. Maybe he can open a Starbucks: "Wood jew like whipped cweam with dat?"

Here's a quote... lol...

"I'd pay $44.95 to watch him box the chimp on skates. Admit it: You would, too."
