Perhaps this is premature or mistakenly jumping to conclusions, but her name (as of noon on Saturday) is gone from the leaderboard.

Earlier today, she was at +5 in her second round, after 8 holes. That followed her 82 yesterday.

I searched on google news but couldn't find anything (yet).

As I suspected....

Wie withdraws from U.S. Women's Open

Southern Pines, NC (Sports Network) - Another tournament, another withdrawal for Michelle Wie.

The 17-year-old star pulled out of the U.S. Women's Open during the second round Saturday, marking the second time she has withdrawn in three starts.

Wie struggled with nagging wrist injuries and withdrew during the first round of the Ginn Tribute four weeks ago, then stirred controversy when she showed up to practice for the McDonald's LPGA Championship that weekend.

She was dangerously close to shooting an 88 at the Ginn Tribute, placing her within range of an obscure LPGA Tour rule that disqualifies any non-member for the remainder of the season if they shoot an 88 or worse.

Wie had an 11-over 82 in the first round of the U.S. Women's Open, which has struggled to get on track in the midst of several weather delays.

She made six bogeys through nine holes of the second round and was 17-over par at the time of her withdrawal.

Yup... 6 over at the turn she WD's on #10
Not a fan of Wie, but I'd like to see her start playing and getting into contention... it must be frustrating and embarassing.

It makes you wonder what's going on, she has all the talent and has not contended at all of late, the only news about M.W. is not of golf lately but her wrist or her pulling out because of it, no new's on anything golf related, what a waste of talent, someone needs to take over the Wie camp and put some disapline in her direction or she will fade away somewhere not to be heard from anymore, that would be a shame because I for one thinks she all the talent to contend but maybe too many people involved in her life.

She should just spend some time away from the tour and let her wrist recover fully. And her head as well. And forget about playing in the men's tour - it was a nice novelty at first but like all novelties, they wear off. She definitely has the game to make it on tour. It will be such a loss to see talent wasted. Remember Ty Tyron?

Dottie Pepper said Wie's avergae score this year for LPGA events is 78. She shouldn't be playing on the tour period unless she can qualify. If she is playing well, then she should have no problem qualifing. It's all very sad really.

i have to agree its not sad at all

michelle wie and her advisors are reaping what they have sown!

she has been ATTEMPTING to play on the mens tour and finishing last-her confidence and therefore her game are shot to pieces-she cant hit a fairway and i dont believe the wrist is as bad as we are now being lead to believe but it is a good excuse for continually withdrawing from events.

i think it is now time for the womens tour to suspend her from playing until she can prove her physical and mental fitness by qualifying.

and the mens tour should do what they should have done in the 1st place!

tell her to "GO PLAY SOMEWHERE ELSE KID"!

And as Lorne Rubenstein pointed out in his Saturday column in the Globe, she's in deep denial, making bizarre comments such as "it's a fine line between shooting 81 and shooting 69." Sure thing Missy, I think it's the same line between sanity and madness.

Wonder how Nike feels about their $20 million girl being #33 in the world, and falling still...

Tuesday on the practice range at the U.S. Women's Open, Michelle Wie bashed away on the range under the watchful eye, and occasionally flippant tongue, of longtime swing coach David Leadbetter. As they left to play nine holes of practice, a local photographer approached and asked Leadbetter for his name. You know, for identification purposes in a newspaper photo caption.

As the Wie entourage piled into their electric carts and headed toward the 10th tee at Pine Needles Lodge, the lanky Leadbetter turned his head and deadpanned, "Butch Harmon." What's more, he then repeated the answer as it was dutifully jotted down.

Agreed but I would like to think she is young and has been lead down the wrong path. Kinda like a Paris Hilton.

I was hoping even a couple years ago she would be the first woman to play on the men's tour and compete or keep her card. it would have been great.

At this point I don't understand why people say she has so much talent - she has nothing to show for it. 88? 82? 85? seems like I could beat her by 7-8 strokes on any given day- probably more so on those 5900-6200 yard courses the women play...

Hopefully this will be the last thread on MW. Going to college is the best choice she has made over the last 3 years.

For the sake of our Albertans, I hope she play (well, at least the first two rounds) of the CN Open.
