Anyone see this last night? I thought it was pretty good. It did seem though that JD had done some prep work and had thought of potential answers before the interview. Nothing wrong with it, come prepared when you know you will be asked some hard questions. Other than that I thought he did a good job. Comments/opinions?:)

i watched the first 20 minutes and turned it off. nothing really new. he's still an interesting character and makes for good tv, but it just didn't hold my interest.

i am sure that that was part of the agreement, that they sent him the list of questions that were going to be asked. I really don't have anytime for a guy like Daly, and don't have any interest for him anymore.

He's one of those guys that people seem to love for his personality and how he lives his life, but i can't imagine many parents wanted there kids to look up to him as a "hero", like kids do with Tiger

I was a bit shocked it was only a half hour. I guess JD can't go a full hour without a smoke!!

where was this interview? must be the Golf channel
If you want a good insight into who he is as a person read his book...not very well written (kinda like this note) but it is very genuine. I wouldnt expect it any other way. Its entitled John Daly Out of the Rough.

Ya...it was on GC. JD has a new book coming out called "golf my damn way". A pun on Nicklaus' book. Hey he's cashing in on the publics interest, nothing wrong with that. I'm sure the interview will be played over and over again, so no worries you will eventually be able to see it.

As a matter of fact, it's on again this evening on GC at 8 pm EST.

I was only able to catch a small portion of the interview because my wife and I are catching up on missed episodes of House and I figure that, like everything else, TGC will rerun the interview to death and I'll be able to catch it twenty other times in the next few days.

The only part I saw was where Daly was being questioned about his drinking, abandoning rehab, and losing deals with Callaway and others because he left rehab. He came off as an alcoholic making excuses for not dealing with his problem. Whether that's truly the case or not, I don't know, but it's the impression he gave me.

House is a great show....more worthy of your time!!

I actually think he was telling the truth about rehab. I know for a fact those meds they can put you on does have that effect on some people. He never had those kinds incidents since then, and his lifestyle hasn't changed that much.

ALthough I personally don't agree with his lifestyle choices there are people in the world who smoke and drink and live full, long lives. Genetics. Take a look at Keith Richards, this guy should have been dead decades ago. My grandfather smoked non-filtered cigarettes from age 15 and he lived until 91.

Anyway, my point is I do actually believe him. He is the kind of guy who doesn't lie. He hasn't yet, why would he start. Hey if you are willing to walk away from a sponsorship like he did, you do have some sort of integrity in you. I'm like everyone else on the JD subject. You know he is not the best decision maker in the world and he isn't very good at learning from past mistkaes, but you can't help but like the guy!

i kinda felt bad watching that interview, daly might as well have "denial" tattooed on his forehead. Doesn't think he has a drinking problem. Doesn't think he's pissed away a shot at greatness by partying instead of working on his game.

this interview was taped a week before he won $250k at the skins game in collingwood btw

Agree....couldn't have written the definition for "poor time management" any better. I do think he is in denial as well about the drinking. It's like people who smoke and then "quit" but still smoke socially, etc. You are smoking....period.

However I do believe him about the re-hab experience and what the meds did to him, as I have known other people who have the same experience. Drugs and booze are bad things for people with addictive personalities.

As a matter of interest Alice Cooper has said if he didn't become addicted to golf he would have died from alchol abuse. He realized he had an addictive personality and found a positive thing to become addicted to.

I do not have sympathy for Daly for his mostly self-created predicaments.

On the other hand, he probably did more for charities than all of us, which I applaud.

He is a generous guy. Hey he's a "good ol' boy". Simple as that.

I loved the Callaway commercial with Cooper and his wife sitting on the couch talking about his new driver. Talk about somebody having come to terms with with his former lifestyle!
