so guys I just recently switched irons and shafts..I went from the Adams GT2 Undercuts with regular true temper shafts to the SMT 303 CB2 with Rifle Airlite stiff shafts..now I noticed today at the range that i've lost a good club length or so in each iron, what's the deal? thanks:D

Could be a couple things...1) The lofts are not comparable and you are losing distance based on the loft of the new irons. 2) The stiff shaft may be causing a lower ball flight which in turn may cause a distance loss as well...

Specs of the two iron sets below.
I'm guessing you probably have more than a 1 Club difference between the two PWs
Adams GT2 Undercut
6 29° 37.875"
7 33° 37.25"
8 37° 36.625"
9 41° 36"
PW 45° 35.75"

SMT CB2

7 35
8 39
9 44
PW 49

What were you reasons for switching irons to begin with? And what was the deciding factor in going to a stiffer shaft? Did you not hit the new clubs to see distance before making the switch?
All things equal, based on the lofts that pir2 has found for you...it's obvious that the Adams' will be longer.

the SMT have more traditional and old school lofts so all things equal they will not go as far as the Adams......
golf companies use(d) jacked lofts to try and mislead consumers into thinking that their irons go further ( but they just have stronger lofts) ...sadly most people fall for it...this also created the problem of sets with too low a loft in the 3 and 4 irons for folks to hit effectively leading to the introduction of the hybrid..
switching irons requires an adjustment period....in this case to zone into the new yardages you get with each club....
no big deal..I have a 4 or 5 sets of irons...2 sets with the pw at 49* and 2 with the pw at 45/46*...I just know that I need to hit one more club with one versus the other....

hey guys, thanks for all the replies..I switched the shafts becauseI was hitting my friends irons and I noticed that with his stiff shafts..I had a more piercing ball flight and it wasn't allowing me to hood the clubface as much as my regular shafts did..in my old adams, I noticed that the shaft was a little whippy and the face would turn over much more causing a closed clubface and me hooking the ball exteremely when I wasn't on

Be only concerned with accuracy or lack of accuracy. If you want to hit it long, do it with the driver and fairway woods.

Very well said Harry.....I personally would be more concerned with how accurate/consistent my irons were, than what distance I was hitting them. If it were say, a huge difference compared to others I play with regularly, then yes I would be a bit concerned and would double-check the lofts.
