Just wondering if anybody here have any experience in rotating their gamer putters between different types of putters (blade to mallet or face balance to toe hang).
I am aware of the different stroke required for the former and current types of putters. I am interested in what your experience was in playing the different types of putters and how it affected your performance on the greens. Did the change improve your putting or did you end up going back to your previous gamer.

I played with a Ping Ally 2 (Anser style) for the first few years playing and then sold it to iyell4 after I got a Scott Red X2 that worked really well in GT. Anyhow, that went to rockwalls after I picked up a Yes! Callie. I realize now that I probably could have stuck with the Ping and played well enough. Anser style putters seem to work well for me. The only putter I am tempted by these days is a Black Nickel Mentorsports Maestro. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention...I only seem to play well if there is a plumber's neck...Anyhow, no complaint now, I love the Callie now that it has been pimped!

A good silly question ...
I think guys/gals would be a better putter if they knew what features [wt., amount of toe hang, length, grip preference, etc.] they liked and why? Then the tempation to just be a 'Putter Ho' is diminished and you learn to make it work. Just putting a different one in rotation is an easy out, requires little to no thought. Trial and error if you will. Best to do this on the putting range.
I did hear of one PGA Tour player who would take 50 putters to the hotel room and pick out the one he would use the following day in the tournament. His name escapes me, so if someone remembers please post.

Well, after some practice and learning to aim my putter properly, my temption to Putter Ho has disappeared.
You know what they say... sometimes the best change is to not make one... :D

I found ( through trial and error ) that i prefer a heavy-ish swing weight putter.
I discovered this by switching to my current mallet from a light weight blade.
Switching to the mallet almost instantly eliminated 3 putting for me. ( sure i still do it sometimes but i was doing it several times a round till i switched )
I then tried out several blade putters ( in store and some they let me take and try on course ) and found that it wasnt the mallet i liked but the swing weight of the mallet i was using.
I am still considering switching back to a blade as i prefer the look of a blade putter - but i am putting well at the minute ( fingers crossed :shhh: ) so i dont know wether to switch or not
I just think that with a blade i might hole more of those 20+ footers rather than just knocking them stonedead everytime!
i would also recommend getting your putter fitted - we all seem to be keen to get drivers and irons fitted but i am suprised at the number of people i know who dont think you need to get a putter fitted?
Getting my putter fitted instantly knocked several putts per round off my scores.

I switch regularly. I seem to putt well with whatever I've got in my hands, but I would prefer to putt with a blade. I find the blade better for shorter putts, a mallet better for lags and now my current gamer is the perfect blend of both, the newport detour 2. Has the sightlines I crave with the newport shape I love. Although, I really don't think there is a sexier putter out there than my Futura Phantom, but it is hard to putt on really slick greens. Just my opinion though. In my experience, a blade performs better if you have a more inside path of the putter on your takeaway, whereas you get a better result from the mallet with a straight back straight thru approach. Whatever puts the ball in the hole...:D

I used to rotate between three putters:
SC Red X2 33" (1/4" toe hang)
TM Rossa Monza 34" (face balanced)
SC Napa Valley 35" (full toe hang)
now its just the monza and the RedX2, the RedX2 when i am putting well and the Monza when I am not; the monza has a magical ability to return me back to better putting.
