View Full Version : Looking for a game on Monday

I'm travelling to Waterloo again this weekend, and it looks like I'll get a chance to get in a round (or two) on my way back to Ottawa on Monday if anyone wants to join me.

I'm looking at Monday morning in the K-W/Mississauga area and/or Monday afternoon in the Pickering/Belleville area. I'm open to suggestions on courses, but would like to keep the green fee under $100.

I might try to squeeze in a round at Rebel Creek for Sunday twilight too, but I'm not sure when I will get into town. If anyone has a spot available after 3 then I might be able to make it - otherwise I might try it as a walk-on.

If it matters to you, I'm a mid-handicapper who plays from the whites and usually walks (though I might ride if it is 30* out - its a long drive home). It doesn't matter to me what level of golfer you are, what tees you play from or how you play the game - just out for some fun.

I booked PH for 9:40 which is after the earlybird, 4some
Shall I try Braeben? I think it's $42 earlybird

job511 - getting from the 401 to the QEW is always slow and tricky in the Burlington/Oakville area, so I don't think Saw-Whet will work for me, but if you're willing to try somewhere else...

Ben Hogans/CanColt - Piper's Heath looks like a interesting course, but I see that is brand new so I wonder about the conditions. I suspect that the early-bird rate would not apply on the holiday Monday, but if it is a nice course in good shape then I would be up for that...

I've heard a lot of good things about Braeben, and the location looks good. Any comments from anyone? I see they have an early-bird rate too, but I don't know if it applies to holiday Mondays either.

eltigre - PH has 1 bad hole and that is #7 in the fairway. #1 green was shaggy when I last played but maybe better by now. Other than that, great shape. As for Braeben, I can call and find out.

Cancolt - I think Bilinguru might be willing to play as well. If so, we have a potential 4some.

I also have a 4some booked at Braeben for 8:41 and the earlybird applies.
Shall I cancel PH?

Hey, I'll go either way.......Braeben 's fine for earlybird....but haven't played the Heath.....the question is is it worth the extra $29 or so since earlybird not available?

I like both but for the price, BB is better deal. I'll cancel PH

Hi Ben Hogans. I think you had better double-check with Braeben as someone there misled you about the early bird applying on Monday. I just spoke with them to confirm as I was told earlier in the week when I booked that, because Monday is a holiday, rounds are at the full rate. Thought you might like to know before you cancel PH.

Thanks for the heads up. just called and you are right.
For those that want to play, where should I book? I already cancelled PH and the earliest time is 9:40.
I prefer an earlier T-time, like the BB booking.

Hi guys,

Thanks for taking the time to book tee time.

I am game for Braeben if that's the choice. I am good to go as long as its
within the GTA area.

I am actually heading to Toronto now and would not have internet access,
could you please call me on my cell. I would appreciate that.

looking forward to the game monday.

:D Hi guys,

BTW, the earlier the better for me, so no problem getting up for tee off.

Braeben works for me too, but it looks like we might have 5 people:

Ben Hogans, CanColt, job511, eltigre and Bilinguru (maybe).

If Bilinguru can't play, then I'm in. But if Bilinguru wants to play, that's OK too because I have another offer as well. So let me know ASAP.

I have read through this thread and I can't tell if you've got something set up or not. If you don't, would Copetown Woods be too far out of your way? I'm trying to get something set up there for Monday.

I'm don't think CW is too far, but I'm not sure how to get there from the 401. But it looks like I'll be golfing elsewhere on Monday morning. Thanks for the offer though - maybe next time.

No problem el tigre. Maybe another time.

For copetown its easy. 401 to 403 just passed Hamilton look for an exit that says copetown. Take that exit and go North. There are signs from there.

Ummm, its been awhile since I lived in Burlington, but I'm pretty sure the 401 doesn't meet up with the 403 until somewhere near Woodstock. So I think from Kitchener I would be going south off the 401 from somewhere, no??

Hmm. Sorry. Hope I didn't give you wrong directions incase you ever have to find CW. I don't pay much attention when driving up that way. But I do know that I can go east on the 403 through Burlington and up until somewhere passed Oakville ( I think) and pick up the 401 somewhere around there. Maybe someone else can clarify.

Just wanted to say thanks for the round to Ben Hogans, CanColt and job511. Really enjoyed Braeben - now that is recyling at its best!

I stopped in at another great track in Belleville called Black Bear Ridge for a twilight round on the way home. So including my twilight round at Rebel Creek the day before, that's 3 rounds at 3 nice courses in 24 hours.

I'm such a golf pig when SWMBO lets me out of the house!

Yes, it was a good game and thanks again (BenHogan) for setting it up and thanks for patience from all of you watching me hitting the driver miserably..:$

looking forward to play Braeban again some other time. great challenging course.

..update on my driver issue...got sorted out by my golf instructor today..well sort of and more practices to come.
