We played it today. Very walkable, pray you don't get too much wind.
Clubhouse is simple, but effective...(think Osprey Valley during the first few years)
All holes are east/west, except 2 of them. It's a Par 70, but they don't have a course rating/slope, yet.
Measures just over 7000 yards from the tips, looks alot longer, but between hard fairways (and lack of rain), ball carries better.
Back 9 more aestheically pleasing than front 9.
No beverage cart or water on course, and it's about a 500 yard walk back to clubhouse after 9 (there's a BBQ near the 10th, for busy days/tournaments?)
Tee boxes are adequate (some bare spots, most are aerated)
Fairways generally good shape, some bald spots, back 9 better than forn 9.
Bunkers are TOUGH, lots of pot bunkers! Watch your footing, I'll bet there are a lot of TWISTED ankles in the rough!!
Feskew is KILLER in most spots, but there are a few easier spots, and most of the time we found our balls.
Practice green is in horrible shape, greens are much better, but slow, not so much shaggy, just slower than you would think. Some interesting undulations.
Par 3's are all very long (shortest 180 yards), many Par 4's over 450 yards.
All in all, will be a very nice (even tougher) course in 2-3 years, but at the prices they are charging right now, WORTH trying!! :)

Very good review Big Shooter. Although I am hacked you failed to invite me along as this course is in my backyard. ;)
What Mark said about the course is basically right on the money. If you drive it decently you can score on this course. Yes there are a couple of weak holes, the 4th comes to mind. But all in all it has great potential. We played from the blue tees, 6505 yards. That was a good yardage for us to play from as it was windy the day I played.
Be warned, it can get very windy on that course. It is wide open and when the wind blows it makes it tough. If you are not a good wind player I would say stay home. That is just the style of course Tarandowah is.
The day I played the greens were not overly fast but the ball rolled pretty pure on them. Subtle breaks are tough to read on some greens.
Fescue is fescue, stay out of it and you'll be fine ;) I did not see that hay at all when I played there, my cart partner did. I think he only lost one ball in it as it is thin right now. If it was a wet summer that stuff would be a nightmare!
The back 9 is just a bit more mature as it was opened first and the front 9 opened this past June. So there is the difference between the two nines, a years worth of growth.
If this course survives the next 3-5 years, and has some more money invested into it then it will be a true test of your golf skills.
BTW I pay $32.50 with a cart, so at that price it is a good deal to try a different course.

There was supposed to be 4 of us, but (1) dropped out...I thought about you, but you weren't on-line when we left, so I assumed you were at work.
...still wanna play FCN or FireRock this year...hopefully. ;)
...and of course we went back to Camp 31 (in Paris) for another great meal afterwards!:)

Hey at least you thought about me  Actually I teed off at 8 AM at STG&CC so I would not have been home.
Hard to say whether I will have time for FCN now. After Sept 3 I am going to start opening up, and I might work an extra day a week to help out the Pro.
I'll get in touch if I am available. Glad you enjoyed your round out there.
