Hey everyone,
Has anyone played the course lately? How are the conditions this year? I remember about two years ago the greens were absolutley terrible. Are they running well this year?
Thanks

Played Thursday.... Thought the greens were very good, fairly receptive and not as fast as I remembered them. Rolled true as even I made some putts.... The course was in very good condition imo.
Like the course as it allows the shorter hitter a fair challenge with opportunities to score with few forced carries (15 & 18 are exceptions) or unfair holes. Even I will admit a few holes are actually quite short 280-300 yards from whites.

Just joined Caledon woods (CL) last week. Played the course for the first time yesterday (sun). I REALLY enjoyed the course. They were having a tournament so the greens were actually really fast. My 2 guests played it last about 3 yrs ago and told me that the course has really changed in a great way. I understand this is one of the lower tier CL courses but I was really impressed. conditions were great. Course is a bit short from the blues, but I have no problem playing this course every day of the week.

good to hear the one.
I don't actually mind the course (played it two years ago) it was the conditions that were bad when I was there. The greens were like fairway length without exaggeration

Just got back from Caledon Woods.
I have to say...WOW what a difference from two years ago....the course is in absolute pristine condition. The greens are the fastest I have played this year outside of the Pulpit and National Pines a week ago and the fairways have barely a divot to be found. I am VERY surprised at the change this course has made in conditions from two years ago and can honestly say it has officially entered my rota of clublink courses. Its got some fun holes and some good holes, but overall I just like it cuz it's fun and if the conditions stay the way they are theres no beating them.
HOWEVER,
My experience with the greens today was horrific. The pins were in the most difficult, illegal and unfair positions I have seen in my life and it was this way for EVERY hole. There having some sorta "super" scramble as they call it and supposedly thats why they did it...but without exaggerating EVERY pin was about 3 feet from the edge of the green and some rediculous fall off not to mention the holes were also cut on mounds. Being absolutley serious....there must have been 12 holes where you couldn't stop a 10 foot putt within 10 feet of the cup in any way other than to sink it. It was scary :help: It was so bad that the maintenance staff and staff in general found it necessary to explain to us why the greens are how they are every time they drove by to setup the tourny.
CRAZY!

Weird.... I played last Thursday and thought the greens were eminently fair and no where near as fast as I remembered them two years ago....
May be the fact I have played much more the past 10 weeks then anytime in my life, that I actually have some touch on the green and am not faced with so many 8 footers coming back....
If you want fast, play Donalda, they have a number of greens bordering ridiculous with some cut so short they appeared burned out.

Glad to hear about the conditions of the greens. I originally joined CW before upgrading to Glencairn. The first two years at CW were spotty condition wise but last year I had the same experience as you had today. Absolutely the best greens in the CL system I have seen in the last 2 years.
It may be hard to believe for some, considering where the course ranks in the overall scheme of things but the greens really are that good.
