Some opinions of my first round at this Tom Lehman designed course.
Sunday August 26 11:25 am.
Played in a foursome with the Director of Golf. Great experience to see that high quality and consistent ball striking.
Enjoyed an excellent pre-round breakfast on the patio with exceptional food and service.
Range was well maintained and large with clear yardage and high quality balls. I strongly suggest some time there as No. 1 is visually stunning and demands your A game drive from an elevated tee to a demanding par 4. We played from the second silver tees like the Telus Skins they had a bit back measuring at 6600 yards.
The starter was friendly and knowledgeable, he explained what was going on with the course and the development. Handed us a few small gifts and a detailed yardage book.
Played first 8 holes in comfortable overcast weather. Number 2 is where Daly during the skins carried 360+ yards of water and hit it over the green with his drive. As I stood there I thought WOW unbelieveable. 3 was a straight forward 212 yard par 3. Onward each hole was a gem that required shot making, strategy and control. I personally used driver on all par 4's and 5's.
Teed off in sunshine on number 9 to see the stunning view of Lora Bay behind the green on our approach. Looked like a postcard. Grabbed a couple of pops from the friendly cart staff and headed to the higher up back nine starting with a reachable par 5. The next few holes are lined with apple trees which give it a distinctive and cool look. As the trees have no lower branches you find and play your ball from beneath and or near them.
The back 9 has 3 of each Par 3's 4's and 5's. The 15 has an incredible elevated tee off a cliif measuring 165 yards with more great views. Winding up with a lengthy Par 4 and tapping in what a great day of golf. Done in 4.5 hours. Needless to say I wasn't the lowest score on the card.
Excellence all around I hope I'm back. Highly recommended with 5 tee decks there is something for all levels.
