I don't know much about the guy they drafted, but it seems strange to draft another power forward when they've already got Chris Bosh. Unless they think the new guy can play centre, which wouldn't be that unusual in the East...

Dunno yet...

3 years in a row they draft the same position
WTF!
Green from high school ..someone explain why we didnt take him..

well i was at the ACC for the draft party tonight....probably over 2000 people there....everyone was in total shock!...exactly like last year....SAD!!!
I think Graham is a pretty good player...but yes..Villanueva at 7 is way too early.
We got Ukic at #41....not too bad! He was projected to go mid-high first round...

a lot of people put too much stock into the internet mock drafts where they had gerald green so high.. if gerald green was so good why did he drop all the way to 18? typical raptor fans we have here on this site i guess, the skys falling skys falling... charlie V wasnt projected as a raptors pick by anyone at all he came as a surprised to everyone im sure the raps brass know what there getting.

joey graham is a tough defender who will defend the perimeter very well somthing we havnt had since doug christie left, the guy can score and loves contact.

ukic is pg from croatia whos been playing pro ball for a few years, i think he will give alston a run for the starting spot.

slokar... dont know nothing about him.

had the raps pick graham villanueva ukic slokar in this order no one would be saying anything!

i wasnt a big fan of villanueva in the first place, which explains my disapointment.

looks like you werent a big fan of ncaa ball u didnt even know who jarrett jack was... sean may i can see your point, gerald green well the kid refused to work out with anyone during the draft, also like i said he fell all the way to 18 there must be somthing the 17 gms know that we dont.

i like hoffa i dont think he was used properly last year, he's more of a face to the basket type centre and tried to get him to post up when clearly hes jumper is where he is most comfortable.
i love what hoffa brings to the table he works hard and is very physical
he just has to get comfortable out there and gain some respect from the refs and i think he will be a serviceable big man, all star NO. good back up YES.

sean may will be a PF in the L i see him like a clarence weatherspoon type PF.
CV can play a little bit of SF PF C, i see him as worst case scenario derrick coleman.
im not inlove with the pick but i see babcocks point, and like your self i wanted an exciting dunking machine like gerald green, but we had 2 chances on this kid and we passed on him, lets just hope babcock is right.

yeah i agree.
i'm a big fan of bonner, meet him at this longue called something like "west".
Regards to haffa you could see he wasnt comfortable, hopefully this year he can prove himself.
As for the draft their must have been something the media didnt know about this young man inregards to GG.
i guess the thought of a JR, CB and GG would of been awesome and maybe SM in that mix.
i just hope alston learns to pass the ball this year.

tehflakes u sound like a passionate raptor fan.
join realgm.com and join the raptors board you will meet a ton of raptor fans there.

i cant wait for summer league to see our new players i think our team will improve a lot this year but im not sure if were going to be good enough to get into the playoffs, if we can somehow get rid of our dead woods EW AW LM.

if we can fight for the 8 spot, like having it come down to the final week or two. i would be happy with that.
Correct me if im wrong, we still have alvin williams under contract who should return to the line up this year.. Correct?

alien270
Jun 29, 2005, 10:19 AM
alvin will be a back up and probably only play 10-15minutes/night
good thing about alvin is he can defend the pg and SG position.

I think we are all forgetitng how consistent Alvin was for us 2 and 3 seasons ago. He is by far the hardest working Raptor and brings it every night. He plays defense! I like AW to split the PG with Alston.

As for the draft picks. Wow. Charlie V is garbage. Anyone who think this guy can play the 3 spot is clearly disillusioned (including Babcock). That would be great to see him try and defend T-Mac or VC. God. If that were the case, why not start Bonner at 3 and Sow at the 2??? Might as well.

Our 16 pick is decent - the dude is jacked, apparently he can bench 400+ lbs! Our 41 is solid although 3 PGs on one team might be too much. If that Magloire deal was for real, why the hell wouldn't we make that trade? Our #7, Mo, and ? for Magloire. Would have made the home town people happy that's for sure.

I also hope Mendez impresses people at the tryouts cuz this guy has game...plus he's Canadian!

AW had major surgery last year and was out all season
it will take time before he can play consistent minutes again if he ever does.
CV is not garbage this guy would have been a lottery pick 2 yrs ago when he was coming out of highschool, i agree i think he will have a hard time guarding quick SF like tmac and vc but at same time they will have a hard time guarding him in the post as well, also when we play teams with quick SF im sure graham will be the one guarding the best offensive perimeter player on the other team.

charlie V is only 20years old so he has some growing to do still.

i wouldnt have mind magloire but i guess charlotte was asking for too much and babcock wouldnt bite.. who knows

I'm wary of Villanueva, but I really liked him last year when UConn took the title. This year he had a tough time of things without Okafor down the middle, but I don't think he's a bad pick at all. A little high, yes, but I'm glad they didn't take Channing Fry. I guess Granger was everyone's popular pick, but I'm willing to wait and see what Villanueva can bring to the table before calling this guy a bust in the NBA.

I really like Joey Graham. He was a good pickup at the late first round spot.

For what the Raptors got in the draft, I still think they should have traded there first round picks for Magloire, he wants to play in Toronto, and I don't want to wait for a 3 year project to finally show, the Raps prolly won't make the the 8th spot, they might be in contention, but won't get it. Magloire is the center they need. Yes they will prolly get him once he hits free agency but will prolly have to dish out more to get him, at least now they could have had the rest of his contract and would have been a quick impact to the team..

as long as they battle for the 8 spot i would be happy.

sorry to dissapoint you but magloire isnt worth the 7th and 16th picks
but your thoughts are shared with lots of fickled raptor fans.
magloire is a falling stock same way vince was a falling stock
you dont give up your assets for magloire now when its clear this team is not ready to contend.. and who is this 3 year project you speak off?

there is no way that we would have given up #7 and 16 for Magloire.
He is not worth that much. Yes he is proven to be quite legit in the East and wants to play for the Raps, but we'll just sign him in 2 years when he's a free agent.

Magloire is hurt too much to give up 2 first round draft pick.

You guys will be surprise with Villanueva. I was shock when I saw he was rated as a mid first rounder. This kid was awesome in High School. He played in the MacDonald High School event with Labron James and he was a close second. He was a winner at UCON and hopefully will bring this attitude to TO.

Roko Ukic was a gift I think at 41. He was suppose to be a mid first rounder so bonus. There aren't many 6'6" point guards.

Mendez sign for a summer league stint with the Miami Heat. Hope he finds a spot in the NBA.

Time will tell.

Another thing. This reminds me of when the Bills drafted McGahee and were chastised by every know-it-all ESPN draft specialist. But 2 years later, man was this a good pick...

We will see.

I still remember the raptors first pick by Issah. He chose Damon and got boo'd at Sky Dome cause the crown concensus was Ed O'___ from ULV cause of his high profile in the NCAA tournament....

give the guy a chance...

funny thing is their 2nd and 3rd pick were solid.

I think babcock would take less heat if he picked his 2nd player first at the 7 spot and Charlie at the 16th spot...

SAME RESULT...

Quit crying/whining...Chris V. will 'surprise' a lot of you naysayers!

...besided, the Raps ain't going anywhere in the next few years, and they're biding their time 'til they can get Magloire (like that'll make any difference!???)
