Played this past weekend with a friend. We were at Parkview - Upper Course.
Hole 10 is a 150 yard Par 3...he hits his ball right and into the trees. Punches out from the trees, hits it thin, ball runs across the green and ends up next to the 11th hole tee box.
Tries to hit his lob wedge over the tree between the tee box and the hole but thins it, hits the ball dead center with the bottom of the club...ball is flying at about 100 mph at the stick about a foot off the ground...hits the stick dead on...drops in...PAR!
Gotta love this game.

Actually, he's a pretty humble guy and was totally surprised...it happened so fast. There was another golfer from the 15th fairway who was standing next to our green...he witnessed the shot and clapped!

Good stuff... I can relate as I did something similar at Silver Lakes the other week on their Par 4 12th... Pulled my drive into the trees, found the ball and chipped out to the fairway, chunked the wedge to short and left of the green. Hit a nice lob shot which hit the pin and went straight in... Didn't deserve PAR, but I'll take it...

Don't want to steal your friend's thunder, but I once had an even more interesting situation. Happened about 8 yrs or so ago. Played with my friend and his girl friend at Unionville (???) on Old Kennedy road (It's now closed). For those that don't know, it's kind of an executive course with mostly par-3's. On one hole, may be 120 yards, I shanked it completely and hit the fence on the right. Ball dropped down a few feet from the fence. Of course I was muttering to myself the whole time as I walked up to survey the situation. Still mad at myself, I proceeded to hit a 60 yard pitch onto the green and dropped into the cup for a 2!!! Probably the stupidest way to make a birdie.

Sounds like a great birdie...golf gods have a way of offsetting all the good putts that lip out...

I was playing the 10th at Mill Run, the double dog-leg Par 5 and at the time the green was on a hill 50 ft above the fairway and you couldn't see the green.
Tee Shot - left into the trees, couldn't find it, red staked, dropped - next shot into the creek in front of the 150 yard marker - drop - now shooting 5 -hit a good 7 iron and figured double bogey would be assured. Couldn't find the ball anywhere on the green. Lo and behold it is in the cup !!
Three swings, two penalty strokes and A PAR - PRICELESS

I'd be willing to bet that hole has made for some amazing shots. I've managed a par on that hole trying the "hero" shot because I was so frustrated. After losing my tee shot right into the "quicksand" marsh, I hit my 3rd short with no way to see the green. Hit a high fade around the trees that appeared to be too far right, again into the trees. When I got around the corner, there was the ball 2" from the cup. All I can figure was that it bounced off a tree and rolled down the hill. Just like I planned it!:D
