:D So I've mostly been using import balls, like Mizuno Cross Eight Tour 352's, GranZ Blue, Callaway Hyper ERC and Tourstage Z-01 G4's, Kasco Purple Kira's, but I'd like to give some domestic balls a try.

I don't know much about the offerings here so please help me find a ball that has low/mid spin, good feel and maximizes distance. Two piece, three piece or four piece doesn't matter and price is not a factor. Thanks for any recommendations you can provide. :)

I love the Bridgestone B330 and the Hogan Tour Deep. Both fit the bill.

What's your driver game like? The HX Pearl is a sweet ball.

Your thread title is pretty funny btw...

Bridgestone e5 or e6 might be a good place to start for you.

she probably had those balls tortured after the carpet incident  just kidding!

but back to the topic, what balls have you tried and what is your feed back for some of the common balls, like ProV1's or HX tours or B330's?

Thanks for the feedback guys, I tried Z-URC found them too hard.... NXT Tour was not bad but I only had one I found and promptly it went back in the drink... I'm going to give the HX Hot a try tomorrow.

Are the e5 and e6 look interesting, the B330 might have a little more spin than I'd like.

The HX Pearl looks like a pretty ball, I can definitely share those balls with the wife...

By the way I purposely named the topic that so it would get some replies and help me find the balls I'm looking for. :)

This post begs an interesting question. Should you match your ball compression to your swingspeed? Should an 85 mph SS use an 80 or lower compression ball?

Here's a brief quote,

Compressing a golf ball is what causes it to go as far as it does. When a ball is struck the surface is dented. The ball must then return to it's original shape. It is this rebounding effect that allows a ball to get the distance it does. If there was no compression then even Tiger would not be able to hit a ball over 200yrds. If a 80 compression ball is compresses to 3/4 of its original size with a light swing it will travel X distance. Now if we hit the 100 compression ball with a swing of the same strength the ball will only compress 1/8th of is original size and have less of a rebounding effect and therefor less distance. Double the swing speed of the club and the 100 compression ball will compress to 3/4 of it's original size. Now because the ball was more difficult to compress, the rebounding effect of the ball will be greater as the ball snaps back to it's original size with greater force, thus going much further.

Hogan Tour Deep is 70 compression.
Bridgestone B330 is 90 compression.
Nike Super Soft is a 60 compression.

Dan :)

Interesting....

Oh yes I did try one other ball. Wilson Fifty. It was 50 compression and pretty long actually. May have to get more of those but I'd like to try others too.

I will cast my vote for the E6, great ball long with good feel.
I like the Pro V1 too but I read somewhere that if you can't hit the half wedge that checks on the first bounce, do you really need the premium ball.

It is a very nice ball.

The B330 is the longest ball I have ever played....for me anyway.

Not sure compression is the issue it used to be back in the balata days but not my area of expertise.

I like the Pinaccle Exception, long, less spin, and relatively soft off putter.
They are not like the Pinaccle ROCKS from a few years ago. Decent ball.

Is that for someone who swings in SLOW-MOTION!?

Try either the Srixon soft feel or the Ad333.both are cheaper balls i know but they have low spin off the driver and feel good round the greens ( to me anyway ) and get good spin off your wedges...i favour the Ad333 myself.

personally i think ( and launch data backs it up ) that the tour balls need a high swing speed ( tour pro speed ) to compress them properly and get the performance statistics they claim.

Most of us are simply not getting what we think when we buy them because we cant hit them well enough.

In this months golf world magazine Nick Faldo does a ball test on the top 10 tour golf balls.

He says that alot of them need a higher swing speed than HIS which is 109 mph for the ball to perform properly.

If he cant hit them then most of us are struggling i would guess.

I was recently given a sleeve of Wilson Staf DX2s. I didn't expect much but boy, was I impressed.

Then I find out they are on sale at Golftown for $19.99 for 2 dozen. These are definitely worth a try at that price.

Also check out this ball test from 2 seasons ago:

Precept Laddie Extreme, Nike Mojo and the DX2 come out pretty well.
