I have a lefty 6 iron that I swing in the yard and use at the range. I can't imagine playing a whole round lefty - but I figure it's good for my back to swing both ways.. wait that didn't come out right :hush:
btw.. you can usually find single demo irons really cheap.. mine is a ping s59 that I picked up for $15 at Nevada Bob's

I'd figure that swinging both ways would produce double the stress on your back.

I have a golf buddy who uses a lefty driver back-wards, and he can hit it almost 300 yards. Yup seen him do it.:)

Look, all I am saying is that if you tend to slice/draw with your irons, playing from the other side will slice/draw to the opposite side, thus bringing both sides of the field in play, realuting in doubling the field.
What are you guys thinking? Get your minds out of the gutter

a guy i golfed with growing up played both ways, would shoot in the high 80s low 90s no matter which way he swung.
I can put fairly well left handed and will from time to time make a left handed swing with an inverted 7 iron, the last was the first hole at diamond back from under a tree, hit a 3 iron on and 2 putt for a regulation par :)

And the wardrobe.... :shhh:
Seriously, I have thought of carrying two putters as I putt better LH from inside 5 feet than I do RH. Just have zero distance control LH from over 15 feet.

A classic bullseye putter will allow you to putt from both sides...

It's funny you would say that....I just picked up a sweet Bullseye, that was delivered yesterday, on Ebay for a buddy who mentioned that he hasn't putted well since getting rid of his.
Used it for a half hour yesterday....pretty nice stick.
Reminds me of when I saw you buying a Titleist driver on ebay. :D

I was watching Big Break I think Trump National. And one guy was left handed but learned to play with right handed clubs with a left handed grip (how a lefty would shoot a backhand in hockey). And The Golf Channel crew actually said more power would come from a backwards grip because of the way it caulks your wrists.

Hi Guys,
I played right handed since I started golf 15 years ago but over the last few years an old injury in my left shoulder made it more and more difficult to play. When I was 17 and playing football, I broke the ball off the top of my humerous bone (the big bone in the upper arm) and also comprehensively damaged the socket and pretty much everything else in the area. After four months in a body cast I recovered with slightly limited range of motion. In the last few years, the left arm high finish of the right handed swing was really stressing the shoulder to the point I could hardly lift my arm. On the other hand, swinging left handed keeps the left arm lower and doesn't stress the shoulder at all.
I started playing around with a left handed PW and 8 iron two years ago and discovered that my right handed fade (or slice) turned into a high draw (sometimes a hook) and I felt much stronger swinging left. For comparison, I hit most clubs about 10 yards further left handed but the driver goes much further. I think this is because my right hand is the dominant one and have become convinced that right handed people should play golf left handed. Funny thing is...I still see the same side of the golf course whether I play right or left.
This year I made the committment to switch to left full time and have pretty much stuck to it despite much frustration. Yesterday I had three pars and a birdie so I know I can do it some of the time! I have found developing short game feel to be especially challenging although I feel quite confident putting. The index has gone from 15 up to 25 but I continue to feel confident I can be a better player left handed than right, and best of all, my shoulder is pain free. Also, my 13 year old son is real happy with my RH clubs!
Did you ever hear the story about Mac O'Grady, the wacky PGA tour player who was also a scratch golfer left handed? He tried to get the PGA tour to let him play in the Pebble Beach Pro-Am with himself as a partner. As the Pro he would play RH and as the amatuer he would play LH!
Cheers

my cousin is left handed but had to learn on right handed set of clubs so he used a cross grip with right hand high and the left hand low on a right handed club. He can hit it a ton and straight as an arrow.

Yeah taking practice swings do feel a bit awkward, but as Pingnut stated, swinging both ways may actually help with the balance and weight shifting.

VJ has a lefty iron he carries on practice rounds and at the range. I've read that he hits lots of balls lefty.

I have a friend who played left handed for almost 20 years. Good player but bad putter - has the yips. He had a hole in one. The next year, he switched to right handed and his GAO index went from 5.6 to around 6.5 after 5 games. He played the whole year right handed and got another hole in one. Now, he plays left handed again.

Unfortunately, VJ is also shooting a lot of 70's right handed these days. And when the cut lines are under par these days...Shooting in the 70's ain't gonna cut it anymore....

Started using a Bullseye a couple of weeks ago after trying someone's on the course -just amazing.I bought one from the lefty at work (only club I could buy from him). Guy I bought it from said to make sure that I used it left handed if I was behind a tree etc. Yesterday, I hit a shot something like 60 yards onto and over a green lefthand from beside a tree. I was surprised by how far and how straight I could hit it. It was fun swinging left handed. Maybe I'll start holding my beer in my left hand too.
