When I played Watsons Glen a couple weeks ago I snapped these...

Maybe someone could explain the ettiquette when dealing with a "Cart Path Only"... :help:

Neither of us hit a ball on it but I tried to tell my playing partner that just standing on a *Cart Path Only* was at the very least a 1 stroke penalty...
I just love useless signs...

Actually I added a third picture below... This one is from a trip to China in April... Signs like this make me howl!!! Thought you might get a chuckle out of it...

Cart Path Only signs are for carts. They stay on the cart path and you take a few clubs to your ball.
No penalty for standing on the path. If your ball is on the cart path, you get FREE relief no closer to the hole.

Now I know I took English in school... and although it has been quite a while I would debate that the sign states that only carts are allowed on the path... not that carts must stay on the path... :D

For anyone who doesn't have a funny bone I am kidding... I know what the sign intends I am just saying they could have used better language... There are people out there for which English is not their first language... Guess they were paying the sign maker by the word... ;)

I actually played with a friend and the exchange student from China living with him back in highschool and he said the same thing. He had golfed before and his golf was better than his English. At one hole he asked how we get from the tees to the fairway after seeing cart path only sign. The path ran right from the side of the tee boxes then cut across just infront and ran up the side of the hole. Man that was funny in a sad kind of way.
