i recently got a nike sasquatch driver. i feel that the shaft is a bit too long. i wanted to cut it. i was advised not to by an employee at golftown. the guy said if i were to cut the shaft, it would change the swing weight. id be able to have a straighter driver but the distance would be shorten. if i were to cut the shaft and add some leadtape, would that mess up the club or will i be okay?

having the correct driver length , one that provides you with the best possible center face contact on hits is very important.

swing weight, while something to be aware of is of lessser importance, and there is no one swingweight that is best for everyone.

Most drivers are built at 45 inches and are too long...they typically have a swing weight of D2 .

Cutting down your driver will reduce the swing weight by 3 points per 1/2 inch.....most folks wont notice 3 points.....the weight of 3 dimes

what I suggest is get some impact markers or use a dry erase marker or tape on th eface of your driver....go to the range and grip down a 1/2 and then an inch and more if you need and look at the flight pattern and whereyou are hitting the ball on the face of the club...the one that produces the best results ...go with that length....have the driver cut down.

try it, it may be fine...if you feel that you want more weight added m use lead tape or you can have weight added to the hosel by a clubmaker....but more costly
