View Full Version : Nike shoes have gone down in quality

I've been wearing Nike since the early 80's and was always happy with the fit, feel and sizing(always fit in a 9). The last 3 pairs I have bought fell like they are made of wood, sometimes fit well at a 9 and generally don't impress me much any more. I may have to switch my allegiance to Reebok or someone else.

I gave up on Nike several years ago. I find that the fit of the shoes is inconsistent. The same model, same size from one year to the next will not fit the same. I stick with New Balance - I know the size that fits me and it always fits no matter the shoe model.

I like the Nike's myself always found them to be a great fit. Adidas fits a bit snug but after the break-in period, very comfy.

I have NEVER owned a pair of Nike's that I liked, so I'm not surprised! :(

I've always found Nike to fit small for some reason. Adidas make a great shoe, for golf or just gym shoes.
In the spring I "stole" a pair of Saucony to use at the gym, and they're dynomite! Here's a link that I found for my shoes; http://www.saucony-running.com/acatalog/Grid-Omni-6.html

Getting Nikes to fit me has never been a problem, but I have issues with their quality sometimes, the last 2 pairs I had always seemed to fall apart inside (lining). I have since switched to Adidas and Ecco, not problems with those.

I'm a Nike fan - as a guy with wide feet (4D/E) they tend to be good for basketball shoes, and their Air Max Summer are good golf shoes for a fella like me.
Reebok makes rail-thin shoes, IMO. Great for skating, not so much for athletic endeavours.

I have had 2 pairs of Nike golf shoes, both were were really comfortable and both leaked. The first pair were gortex and the water leaked through the sole insert. It was clearly a manufacturing issue Nike told me that eventhough I only had them a couple weeks I was out of luck because they were past the 2 year warranty(it begins the day of manufacturing). The second pair I bought at GT on sale and they leaked within the first month so I took them back. I ended up with a pair of Adidas and love them. I recently just got my first pair of Footjoy Contours and they are my new favourites, comfortable and my feet are dry!!
What I find strange about Nike shoes are the sizes, I have a 10 year old pair of Nike tennis shoes that are size 10's I have a pair of Nike running shoes I bought in May that are 11.5's? I put the shoes side by side and they are the same size.

Nike's are the only make I haven't tried but my bud and his son swear by them. I have had a size issue with other makes also, but I found that buying them 1/2 width size larger, when possible,is a big help. Since I walk and carry my feet spread slightly and the extra room delays sore feet after.

Glad to hear someone has good luck with Footjoy's. Every time I get a pair within the same year my toe blows out the side of the shoe. I even buy the wide size as well.

I have been using a pair o f the original nike sp 3 shoes and haven't had a problem, they are pretty comfortable, but I haven't liked any of their recent designs...thinking of making the switch to footjoy, maybe a pair of custom my joys!

Never bought any Nike golf shoes. My husband has 2 pairs and likes them well enough. I hear that you can return Nike shoes to the Nike store if you find them defective/leakey and they will give you a brand new pair. Is there any truth to this?
I myself have 3 pairs. Adidas, Ecco and Dexter. I would have to say Ecco is the most comfortable. Dexter next and last would be Adidas. I find that the tongue of the shoe is too hard and cuts into my foot. I get bruises from it even after breaking them in.

I'm embarassed to say I still use an 8 year old pair of reebok classic golf shoes. I paid 250 for them back then so they are a high end shoe. hexalite, with leather soles. I think next year I will replace them though at the start of the season.
