Wow! What an upset, I thought Paris, France would win for sure...I guess David and Victoria "Posh Spice" Beckham flying in to Singapore was all worth it afterall!

I was surprised that Paris didn't get it either. I thought they were heavily favoured..
some say that its cause France has already hosted the 98 World Cup...so like NY (US hosted olympic in 96/02)...so they decide to give the hosting chance to London...
but who cares...
Vancouver Whistler 2010!!!!! wooo!!!!!

I am sad that Toronto didn't get the Olympics in 2008, and now that Vancouver is hosting in 2010, I don't know if Toronto will be ever hosting one anytime soon :(

I had a discussion with someone in NJ about this. He thought it would be great for NYC to get it to increase tourism and promote the city, but honestly, how much more can you promote the big apple?
I wished Toronto got it for 2008 though, maybe then our sheppard line would connect the U at the top!

Absolutely delighted that London got it. Various cities in the UK have been trying for the last 3 or 4 bids and haven't made it, so it's great that London finally breaks through. Kudos to Seb Coe, and many thanks to President Chirac whise derogatory comments about British cuisine seem to have helped London's cause !

Sad?
I'm ecstatic that Toronto (a World Class City, but don't tell anyone in Toronto!) didn't get them...it's already EXPENSIVE enough here, and no doubt Don Valley and Lakeview would raise their prices to around $100!!??? :nono:
