Has anyone heard about or used this? It seems like a good thing.

I was leafing through my Fairways magazine and noticed the ad for this and checked out the site. I know that many here complain about ball marks and how few people fix them on greens, but I have also noted that repairs themselves are not always done well, or properly. It would seem a system like this goes a long way to helping that.

I would be most curious if there are any course managers/owners who would consider going with this, or is this just marketing hype?

Does anyone know if GolfTown, or any other retailer in Toronto/SW Ontario carries this? I am willing to fork over a bit of cash to buy one of these and help the greens that I play on.

I use the traditional repair tool and use the method they describe in that demo video. I find too much lifting does make a mess. I suppose they charge an arm and a leg for that tool even though it doesn't look like it should cost anymore than a traditional tool.

I wonder if it comes with instructions on how to use it properly. Just imagine a group that thinks it's a wonder tool but if used improperly, it'll be just as good as "traditional divot tool".

If people started pushing the grass towards the indentation, rather than popping it up from the middle, that would decrease the brown spots right away. The little air pocket created from digging into the edges of the ball mark and popping it up, that kills the grass root under the ball mark.

I'm sure most of the TGN'ers already knew this though, sorry for the rant. :D

Yes thats what I'm saying. Why isn't you can't use the traditional tool in the same way this supposed new break through. I just place my fingers on the traditional tool down far enought that it doesn't go in too deep and push in.

I love the scotty pivot tool. I mean I knew how to properly repair divots previously. But I think the pivot tool is almost fool proof for most people. It forces you to feel the correct action.

From my experience, 10 out of 10 people think they know how to fix a divot....from my observation, perhaps 1 out of 10 actually do know how to fix a divot.

The greenfix system (comes with a DVD) is sweet and anything that helps is a good idea. The Markmender is also a pretty good idea (watching the MM video would show most people how to fix a divot).

Most people see dead spots on greens and figure that someone didn't fix their mark....most likely, by lifting they ripped the grass from the roots.

My rant for the day, carry on.... :D

I have one of the Scotty pivot tools and for some reason it never seems to dig in easily as my Glen Abbey divot tool. (it's one of the skinny ones that almost looks like a pitchfork)

Why can't people figure out that they need to push the earth into the centre of the ball mark?? I have a friend at my course who brought in diagrams from a course he played at this summer in Quebec, great details on how to properly fix ball marks. For some reason the Pro Shop never made copies to hand out to members or attach to the carts.:confused:
