The golf season will be coming to a end in a month (or two :) ). What do you do in the off season when you would have been golfing?
When I miss golf, I will play my Golden Tee machine. ;)

Tennis. I go to Eglington Flats (jane/eg). Tennis was my primary sport up to this year... but its easier to find people to play golf with (because I don't have to... ha)
Plus, there is always the PGA golf in Oakville. Heated tees.
And Tiger Woods 2k8

I count the days until the courses are open again!! Actually what I do is I hit balls at the Docks or the dome, or at my parents condo in the basement, but that is into a net. I do a lot of putting in the winter, and try to hit the gym more. This winter I'm reffing GTHL hockey too, so at least I'll be busy!

Is the Docks range open in the winter (before the snow)?

Have a place at my condo where they have converted a squash court into an indoor range.
Work on my fitness, core strength, flexibility, indoor putting on my carpet, and excessive beer drinking while watching another stupid info-advertorial on the golf channel.
Is the Docks range open in the winter (before the snow)?
Its open all winter long. I enjoy shanking 3 woods over the fence into the channel on the right.

As soon as it get cold, I lose all appetide for golf (thank God for that. This thing can get expensive).
When TV and magazines start hyping about the Masters, that's when I come out of hibernation - typically that is around March. That's when I start paying attention to which range is open early, and what golf course opening dates are. I don't go to indoor golf dome or that place at Vaughan because whatever I figure out there I can not apply right away.
Going to the gym is another thing.
And lots of shopping.

I went through the indoor range mode last season but won't again this year. If there is no snow on the ground and it is 3* C or better I'll be at some golf course that stays open.

Excellent, I live downtown now and this will be handy.
I wish my condo had a golf simulator like the condo at 401/Bayview. I would use it everyday in the winter.
I was talking to one of the restaurant owners in Chinatown. He is a avid golfer and has a golf simulator in his basement. He told me it costs twenty thousand or something like that, dont remember exactly.

I play volleyball three times a week and usually play in at least 2 big volleyball tourneys a month in the GTA.
I am also trying to find time to play hockey regularly this winter.
Other then that, I'm going to take up snowboarding.
And then there's the trip to Myrtle Beach in January or February for 5 rounds of golf.

Play pickup hockey every Sunday with my buddies, try to find time once a week at an indoor range near by. One of my primary goals this winter is improving my core strength and overall flexibility, hopefully time at the gym will help here.

Play pickup hockey every Sunday with my buddies,
I wish I could do that. One of the things that led me to golf was the fact that I had to quit hockey. Of course my knees haven't been too bad lately. I could probably stand a little light pickup hockey.

When the snow flies my skis come out of the closet. I am a certified coach with the Canadian Ski Coaches Federation. I teach ski racing at my club.
Well up intil last year that is. I am semi retired so I don't ski as much but when I do I really have a blast teaching.

I'm with you Jim. There's an off season? Not for me. I'm at the dome or Oasis just about every day, both for lessons and practice. When not there, I'm usually on the living room carpet or using my net in the basement for chipping.
There's also the annual trip to my brother's place in Houston to look forward to in Feb. I won't be spending an entire month there this time though. I'll probably be making a side trip to Tampa to see my daughter this time. Naturally, HAVE STICKS WILL TRAVEL.:D

Where did the year go, I don't want to think about the end of the season yet. We pack up the car and spend a few week's in SC, play a lot of golf and the wife and daughter spend all our $$$ at the outlet store's.

Buy some meshing, and put up a net in your basement at home, if it is unfinished. Hit half shots in the net (if your too tall to take full swings), and set up a video camera on a tri-pod to keep an eye on your technique

Sounds right..... I love the break and having something to look forward to... This year started slow, with iffy weather through May, but I did make up for it....:D

I am secretly (not) glad that we have a forced layoff of 4-5 months in this part of the world.
Other than making snotty, ill-timed remarks on the Internet, I don't have a winter hobby. I can live with that.
What I do all year round is put myself to sleep by mentally playing golf holes. It's a bad night when I have to play all 18 holes and then tee it up on some other course.

That's how I fall asleep at night, I take a course and play each hole, I just wake up when I have a bad round going and then start over.:)

i don't mind the winter lay-off, i never burn out from the sport that way. I don't think i touched my clubs between November and March other than 1 round in January.
I usually hit the gym a little more regularly, hoping to get the woman into squash cause i LOVE it. Other than chillin out more with friends, i relax and watch my hockey.

Play hockey 2 times a week, timekeep AAA hockey 4 games each Saturday, this winter will try to get into a gym program so I can lose a kilo or 2...normally don't pick up a club from last round until April.
The past 5 years I was on a weight gaining program and can attest that it has worked each year...will try to stay off that program this winter.

In the off season............i play golf :D
Over here in the U.K we have lots of fantastic links courses that are almost always playable all year round.
Yes if the winter is severe they may use temporary greens or even winter tee's ( to allow them to recover a little )
But last year i only played temp greens at 2 courses ( in two bad weather weeks ) all the rest of the winter it was all systems go :D
The only thing that stops golf here is snow ( and we dont often have that for long periods ) or severe frost!!!
I probably wont be as lucky this winter as last............but i should still be able to play quite regularly :)
