Have anyone ordered from The Golf Warehouse and have them shipped to Canada?

What's your experience like?

I just ordered a stand bag from them and wonder how easy for it to cross the border and how quick I could expect it.

Thanks in advance...

I ordered a set of fairway woods a few years ago. TGW was great until UPS delivered and I had to pay brokers fees of $40 for my $50 set of FW's. Not directly TGW's fault, but they're the ones that shipped UPS.

Like Lax said if they shipped it by UPS you are going to get hammered with brokerage fees, duty, etc...if they can ship via USPS you may get it into Canada scott free or you may get hit with taxes only...avoid UPS at all costs.

I bought a stand bag from TGW. Remember the infamous Ogio bag that broke? You will pay duty, but the bag should come no problems. Good luck to you if you have a warranty claim though! Remember if you do, don't whine about it on the thread!

You know how when you get to the UPS to pick up your package and they let you know about this $40-50 brokerage fee... and you ask them about it... and they say, "well, it's not our choice, it's UPS head office that charges it... if you have a problem, you call this number and complain to them, etc. etc. etc." Has anybody actually called them? Have they ever done anything? It seems absurd to charge a $40 brokerage fee to clear something worth $20. Why is it that FedEx also charges brokerage fees but in most cases, they are less than $20? Why is it that USPS doesn't charge any at all?

I will treat the brokerage fee as if our loonie is still worth 65 cents US dollar.

Actually, since I look after the DC of the company among other things, I will just use my custom broker to take care of this for me.

Anyhow, I called them and got them cancel the order. These people are awful when it comes to customer service.

Note to self, do not buy from TGW.

I bought a driver and two wedges from TGW this year and didn't get charged a brokerage fee (or tax!) at all.

I did choose the more expensive shipping option though.

Actually, I believe you do get charged a fee for "handling" with USPS shipped with the Express Mail option, (as opposed to Priority Mail). Canada post will charge $8.00 for some shippments from the US, plus GST/PST as applicable.

I love ordering from these guys - however I get everything shipped to my head office in California (no tax charged since its out of state). Then when I am there, I can throw it into the golf bag or someone can bring it up here. :shhh:

It's allllll goood.

I placed my order....Realizing that they have the ship-to address to be my billing address. Unable to change it online, I called their hot line and was put through to a CSR who has very limited international training or experience. She has to put me on hold to consult her supervisor on how to change ship-to on the order.

Then the next day I realized that it hadn't shipped, I called and got connected to another CSR. She informed me that because I was a new international customer, they required a fax of my CC statement. I told her that no one informed me of that the day I placed the order. She was adament that they did - but couldn't confirm with what method. I checked my inbox and phone log, nothing to indicate they did.

In the 2 days I dealt with them, they showed me enough signs that they are a bit of a bush league operations and decided to cancel the order.

I don't think it's necessarily TGW that's the problem. Remember you are ordering out of country. Rightly so wrongly so we are in Canada and 99.9% of the time they are dealing with domestic orders. My experience with anything online done with US companies tend to be a bit more problematic. Not impossible but a tiny bit more hassle when you are calling from Canada. I have had similar experiences from booking vacations, ordering rewards seats on planes, to just ordering stuff.

I've had the same request from many companies from the US. It's a pretty normal thing for companies that don't do a lot of international business.
