so when was everyone's first time playing golf?

this is my first year playing golf, played a couple of rounds, went to the range quite a bit and took 5 lessons from a CPGA/USPGA certified pro.

Hey Mok! I made it here finally.

This is my first time "posting" on TGN.com ;)

First time playing on a course was something like 1990. Driving ranges, and of course mini-putt courses long before that when I was a young'un.

I didn't start playing regularly until maybe 5-6 years back. I played 50 rounds one year. This year, I only played maybe 15 times :(

1st year playing golf and lets just say I have one more reason to hate winter. Started in July and have played almost twice a week. I've gone to the range on a daily basis. Looking forward to next season and even considering getting some lessons from a CPGA certified pro.

i highly recommend getting lessons especially since your "bad" habits haven't settled in yet. easier to learn now than later. i took a set of 5 lessons and i thought it was definitely worth it.

I've started playing about 7 years ago but didn't play regulary until about 3 years ago. Played about 2-3 times per season when I started and then since 3 yrs ago I've been averaging about 15-20 rounds. Definately helps your game by playing a lot, but doesn't help the wallet!!

First time to experience golf was four years ago. I was hitting balls with my friend's old driver. I couldn't hit a ball that longer than 100 yrds, so I gave up.

Picked it up again about a year and a half ago. Got some quick lessons from Weir_Sucks and got hooked again.

I think I played around 10 to 13 rounds this season. I agree with Focker that it does hurt my wallet. But I would rather spend the money on golf course than to those K nights.

My first time swinging a club was 3 years ago. That year I only went to driving ranges a handful of times. Then my bf decided to get me a set of clubs last year so that I won't stop him from playing. This year I hardly went to the range, but played more rounds on GCs.

It's been frustrating going only to courses and not to the range, especially since I know I need to do get use to all my clubs. Next year, I promise myself to do more drills before wasting money on courses!

a lil off topic but
definitely helps going to the range to smooth things out before hitting the course. try taking some lessons too, it really helps a lot!
