Wondering peoples thoughts on the realease of Halo 3. Anyone wait outside last night to get one of the first copies? I know I waited ouside Future Shop with about 100 other people in London to get the game. Although it isn't something that I would usually play (I'm really only into sports games), it's very solid. I know some people on this board are almost all the way through already. That takes dedication.
I felt the game was solid, but not the best game I've ever played. I personally found Gears of War to be a better game, but I missed the hype in Halo 1 and 2 and never reallt got into them. I think that is a game that most would enjoy and I'm glad I got it, it's just a little over hyped IMO. Thoughts from people that bought it and people that plan to...?

I bought mine (Limited Edition) at Costco during my lunch hour. All three verisons were $10 cheaper than BB or FS.

If you are or have bought the LE version, note the following disc exchange story:

A little over the top for me, I opted for the basic version. I guess it's cool if you are into that stuff.

I was considering buying the Legendary Edition, the helmet did look enticing, but it wasn't worth it in the end.

The guy at Blockbuster said he finished the game in 5 hrs. Hardly seems worth it.

For most of the fans of Halo 3, it's not the solo game, but the multiplayer (online/system link) that makes this game worth it.
As for the solo game, saw the ending, I was pretty disappointed. And without throwing out too much of a spoiler, they left it somewhat open again for a Halo 4. Although, I don't find myself too surprised.

Actually,
I didn't line up at midnight to get my copy, I got my mine at 6pm from a nice man at microsoft:D .
I've logged almost 20 hours of halo 3 since monday night. Beat it once on normal by myself, once on coop. Currently doing a coop legendary / skull run.
EA sent me a copy of nba 08, so I'm kinda of busy reviewing it for xbox canada:D
Cheers

Not sure why anyone lined up. My son reserved his copy at EB for $5.00 deposit and just picked it up when it came out.
The game looks great and he really likes the online from what I can tell. Me however, I can't figure out how to use two joysticks to control the player and will just watch from the sidelines.

I'm just an IT guy with a video game passion. I took tuesday off of work to play halo 3.
More than welcome to come on over and play some NBA 08. My review will be up sunday night / monday. I just need to play through some FIBA championships and find someone to get an online game against:D

I think people lined up just to play it ASAP, they weren't too worried about not getting a copy (at least this was the reason I was in line). I've finished it this morning and have to say my opinion of the game has changed since my first post. With the exception of the 8th mission, the game gets better as you go along IMO. I beat the game in just over 12 hrs of playing, so most online reviewers were right on in terms of length. I've also read that the game is even better online. Until now, I've stayed offline to beat the single player first. I will jump online tonight and am sure to get owned by much better, more experienced players. Anyone wanna join me?:D

I'm not sure about this but I think the online play differs from other games like gears of war in that you get together with other players to beat the console as opposed to playing other groups of onliners. Am I correct in that? If so thats kind of cool. Maybe I should learn how to use the controller!! lol

GOW does not compare halo 3 or Rainbow 6 online.
