I looked at these just recently to see a comparison to my s59 because the loft spec's are the same.
Overall the s58 look beefier and the sole though slightly wider is still reasonable. The Pings "wing" tabs on either end of the sole on some other models are an eyesore and act like skid pads.
The s58 are designed to be higher launching than the more demanding s59 which are comparatively low launching "blades".

Personally,these are a welcome radical design departure from all their other offerings and one I hope that Ping will continue to pursue further.
