Played with a guy on Saturday, that's what he told me.

True?

That's an interesting rumour. It could be true. The club has been on shakey ground financially from what I understand.

I think this is a fantastic rumour, I had the "fortune" to speak with their pro a few weeks ago and he said everything there was great. From some of the members that I've spoken with this summer, I've heard that traffic down there and there was a lot of question regarding their financial stability, as Jim mentioned.

Knowing the reputation of some of the ownership group, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if they did sell. Nothing from Clublink so far that I was able to google.

It's probably just another rumour but Clublink does need to aquire some properties in the eastern end of the GTA

The challenge with BD is its a far drive for a quirky style course. If they fix a couple of holes and gas prices remain stable, then they will see more GTA golfing traffic.

BD is quirky but CL may be getting it for a good price and as I said they need to purchase some properties out in the east.

Totally agree Jim! Looking to move your membership?

yes and no. I'm not a member of clublink but I am a member at a local course out here in the far east end. I'm leaving that club after this year. I would like to see clublink come out this way and one day I may actually join.

I'm not surprised your contemplating leaving NC after all the hub bub this year with the new owners. Are there lots of members leaving this year?

From all that I hear the answer is yes. Its a combination of the 50% increase in membership rates for 2008, poor organization and a lack of improvements to the course.

If Clublink does buy BD, you'll want to get in as soon as it's announced. Quite often they have some outstanding deals in the early going.

BD is not a course I like enough to join.

Somewhat on topic, I did play BD yesterday and it was in excellent condition. The greens were all great and the fairways were very consistent.

I know I've been on record several times about liking BD but I have actually avoided it for most of the year because of others' complaints here that the conditions weren't great.

The pace of play wasn't bad considering it was very busy - finished in just under 4 1/2 hrs. No complaints with any marshalls and the cart girls is about as hot as they come :D . One more positive thing to relate - I checked in as a single at 11:15 and was given the "after 12:00" rate of $55, incl. cart.

BTW, the "tree" is still there on 16 - if they do cut that bugger down it will drastically improve things!

Is this true? There is nothing on it anywhere.
Looks like a nice course on the website http://www.blackdiamondgolfclub.ca/

No truth to this one -- at least according to the club.

It matters not, a few posters already mentioned that any 'Joe Public' can get a tee time at CL courses...

(how is this for rumor?)

One can, but showing a Gold Visa is not the same as showing your Gold member card from yuor home track. :D

Thanks Robert. I wouldn't have been surprised if it had happened but the fact that CL was silent on the issue had me thinking right off that it was nothing more than a rumour.

I can't wait as I have an infinite attraction to trees, and that baby loves me!

There was a post somewhere that it was coming down at the end of this year. Maybe a snowmobile trip and weiney roast this winter would do the trick?

I played in a LMG event at Black Diamond in August and the owner told me the tree was coming down this winter. They wanted to wait until the ground is frozen so they will do less damage to the fairway.

Well, since Robert got the "official word", and I'm the OP, I guess this thread can be LOCKED up!! :)
