Tee's indoor golf on Laird has 5 or 6 simulators, a bar and I think some snacks/food. I take lessons from the owner in the summer at my course.

I have used the simulators and they are good for practise because you get instant feed back on your swing. Open or closed face etc. Or you can play golf on the sims kind of like a gaint golf video game.

The Launch (Weston Rd north of Steeles)
The Docks (Cherry south of Lakeshore)

There's also Oasis on Alden Rd in Markham. It's an indoor facility, so you're hitting into a net a few feet in front of you so there's no ball flight, but the chipping/putting green is really big. There are also 2 sims, and they run a sim league during the winter.

No sim league this winter. There wasn't enough participation last year. They are spending the next few weeks renovating the entire place for a grand new opening end of october.

Family Golf in Oakville, (9th line and Upper Middle Road) is open all year with heated Stalls. Balls are not that great as to be expected but the price is cheaper then Launch and I think it is by the bucket as opposed to by the Hour. I have not been there for a while as my elbow will not allow me to hit off mats although they have the softer grass like mats instead of the hard mats.

Innergolf located at the west end of downtown is a great alternative.

They are a sponsor of this site, I believe.

Yep. They booted James out though which is a shame. Young guy, but awesome swing and very customer oriented. They are typically not very busy until after Jan 01.

Waterside is decent ... it can get pretty busy during the snowy months, as mentioned. They're only open for a short time on weekends, and you generally have to wait for a spot to open. (But you can warm up at the short tees while you wait.)

I don't recommend the Docks when the weather gets below freezing. Even though the balls are kept in a machine inside, I think the machine must be a refrigeration unit, because the balls (crappy at the best of times) are like rocks. Plus, you're right by the lake at a time of year when the air is heavy anyway, so you lose all kinds of distance. You might as well be in a dome -- the experience is much more pleasurable.

On the bright side, if you do go to the Docks in winter, you'll have no trouble getting a spot.

Ya....I go to the docks if it is above like -5. The balls are bad though. I find they are also hard to see when they hit the ground, but it could be due to my colour blindness and they are orange balls. I'm fortunate as I have a net at my parents condo I can use for free, but more than once a week and it gets boring.

When it gets to like -10 I will go to the dome although it is ridiculous in its pricing. I do a lot of putting in my living room, and will even swing my momentus in the back yard for 10 minutes a day. I will also find a park if it goes above 5 degrees and hit 50 yard pitch shots. As long as you do something every couple of days you won't have a ton of rust in the spring.

I also used to go to Oasis a fair bit and should implement that more, and now that I have less hockey comitments with only one kid playing this year I will make more of an effort to go there. I find I like to work on the short game more in the winter, paticularily putting. I putt pretty much every night. The kids and I have competitions sometimes, and the cats like to try to play with the ball. It's a whole family affair.

Oakville Indoor Golf has 2 "About Golf" simulators, a net for warm ups and a decent sized chipping/putting green. They wil be opening up after Thanksgiving.

I find they are also hard to see when they hit the ground, but it could be due to my colour blindness and they are orange balls.I'm a little r-g colour-blind, so perhaps it's that -- I have trouble seeing the balls, too. But others have said the same thing. I think it's a combination of the orange balls and the light-coloured background (the movie screen, the ground, the sky with a low-horizon ...) It drives me nuts because I'll hit a ball that sounds and feels like a great shot, but I can't see where it's gone, so I feel like I've wasted a ball. Of course, in those situations, I just assume it's landed on the grass beneath the movie screen. (And that's when I'm hitting my wedges.)

Im glad its not me. I never see where my ball lands when Im hitting balls at the Docks. Its like 4 feet before they hit the ground they disappear to my eyes. I just thought I had bad eyes

Dock balls are rocks. I know I hit a ball pure at the Docks because when I dont hit the sweet spot (which is often), I feel it all up my arms with bad vibrations.

It's also important to remember at the Docks that those balls don't carry nearly as far as a real ball -- for any shot over 150 yards, you can assume you're only getting 80% distance. Below 150 there's a definite difference, but I haven't worked out the difference yet. Suffice to say that if you trust the distances at the Docks, you'll wonder where your power came from when you take it to the course. (I realise that all range balls carry less than "real" balls, but the orange specials at the Docks are particularly keen on dying quick deaths.)

On the other hand, if you hit your shots thin, the ball will roll like hell -- but that stands to reason given the surface you're hitting onto.

The fun part of the Docks is trying to slice a high fade into the channel (not that you could see it if you did).

Or for my case a very high pull hook. Sent a few over there, although not on purpose !
