View Full Version : Thread closed for flaming???

Hey to everyone,
So I just noticed I had a thread closed for being...and I quote the oxford dictionary...."burning fiercely and emitting flames."

I never knew that was even possible. :cookoo:

I guess I'm not allowed to share my "personal golf experiences" with others in the 19th hole which is ironic.

Next time I will try to post something boring and uninteresting because I don't want one of my posts to be "flaming" again.

i think the mods were miffed because you "named names". Whatever. All you gotta do is read the threds around here to get the jist of what you were talking about. You don't have to be boring... you just have to do it without " flaming" other members...

How come a lot of the controversial posters are ex-MODS?

Is this a case of police crossing into the other side? Prosecution turning into defense? Beefcakes turn villains?

Or perhaps they simply have a lot of penned-up anger towards having to enforce the rules, and now they are lashing back at the establishment?

Frank - we were right to delete your thread, nothing positive was going to come from it. If you would like to repost something to praise swank golf, feel free. If you bash other members like you had before, it will most likely be deleted again.

I agree with the mods on this. The other members contribute positively to this forum and don't need to be run down.

Agreed.

There was nothing wrong with Frank praising Jeff - you know we all LOVE him :D

Naming others is what should have been deleted - Sorry Frank.

I guess I'm the only one who doesn't think pointing out what others say is wrong. Why can they say it, but I can't say they said it?

Something is obviously wrong. I may have given my OPINION on what they said, but tell me to remove my opinion and NOT my entire post. If I can't point out what someone else has said, then what that person said should be deleted as well.

Its not that there is anything wrong with challenging what someone says but be a man and challenge them directly. I don't think Jeff needs your praise if it means putting someone else down to get it. It cheapens the whole endoresment.

And in Buffalo it means something different again:D

Seriously though, I have been watching this post and read the OP. In my humble opinion, the mods were correct to close the thread. It wasn't that Italfrank named names that warranted the closing, but that in naming those names, he made sweeping generalizations about how they had repsonded to and commented about swaain's posts. Yes the discussions amongst those who are in the club fitting business have got "animated" from time to time and there have been some spirited differences of opinion, but the impression i got as an observer was that the OP implied that the named members slagged a post or an opinion, not because they felt it was wrong, but because it was put forward by Swaain and that posion was put forward as a fact, not an opinion.

That's my interpretation of the OP and in I think the mods were of the same opinion and that's why the thread was closed.

I dont want it closed...I dont want any threads closed...it would have been kinda ironic if I asked the mods to close this thread when I'm complaining that my original thread shouldn't be closed dont you think?

I never got a chance to read the deleted thread. But from what I pieced together, Italfrank was probably trying to point out that some (not all) non-authorized fitters have the tendency to call out Swankgolf and more or less challenge him on the art of club-fitting.

Professional jealousy or pissing on your competition's turf, call it what you want, there really is nothing to gain for Swank to engage in my-d!ck-is-bigger-than-yours back-and-forth with the fringe elements. He's first in line to become the exclusive fitter here, it is what it is.

ps: I hope I am not putting words in Italfrank's mouth and piss off another member. Nevertheless, that is how I feel as well.

The post was 10% praise for Jeff and 90% bashing of other TGN members. Given that this was the original post in the thread, you have to wonder why it was started in the first place...

If the percentages had been the other way around, or if it was a reply to another post, the post would have been heavily edited. We'll go back and see if it is worthwhile doing that instead.

The OP should just start a new thread.

"Jeff is good, Jeff is great. Thank you for my clubs amen."

Given my amicable disposition that is what I would do.

Jeff does not need people to tell him he is good. He knows he is good.:D

I'm not sure how you calculate your percentages, but I think you should
review your method...or...you could have let others decide by not deleting the thread. :hush:

Just to remind you all on this forum: Flaming, is posting messages and starting threads that are deliberately hostile, insulting and verbally abusive. The OP in the original thread was interepreted by the mods as such and that is the reason for deletion. They were doing their job and really should be given some slack. Opinions and compliments are most welcome but Flaming members is not. This thread is now closed. Please move on, thanks!
