I'm just wondering if its of benefit to get a full length mirror? It seems I'm sometimes doing things with my swing that I'm not even aware of and would like to see if I can catch it. Is this a good way to work on the swing during the winter months? Just wondering if anyone here practices with a mirror? If so is it better to view your swing from behind or infront or both?

Absolutely!!! I practice at my gym in between sets as there are two mirrors on opposing walls so I get like a 3D view of my swing. One of the best ways to work on mechanics/set up. Keep doing it, and then try to figure out what to do to correct the flaws (go to an instructor if you can't see it for yourself) and the next time you go to the range work on the corrections.

does your gym let you bring a club? Or do you practice without one? I will be joining a gym and that is great tip.

Have been hitting balls next to a mirror in the winter months for about 4 years now. I keep the mirror posistioned slightly tilted away from me so I can keep an eye on my ball and foot posistions as well as my swing. The mirror is about 4 feet wide and 6 feet tall. I use it from the front and behind. I'm usually not even concience of it's existence, but i do occasionally see things peripherally that I may stop to address. It can be an excellent tool....

...Or I may just like looking at myself. Who's really to say?:D

I use the "gym" at my parents condo, so no one really says anything. In fact there are a lot of golfers there as it is mostly retired people, so they will sometimes watch. I bring my Momentus there, but only do it if it is not busy....which is most of the time.

I would think most gym's would not have a problem with it, but obviously you will have to check with them. If they do, just get a light weight dumbell (5-10 lbs is all you need) and use that. I find a weighted club, or any weight at all really helps when trying to make changes in your "muscle memory".

I do it occasionally, and I really think I might do better as a lefthander. ;)

While I don't practice with a mirror, I do practice in the backyard while looking back into the house window as it acts like a mirror.

I would suggest straight on and down the line views as your best bet for viewing and improving.

Just make sure there's at least a thong underneath those skirts, you will do fine...:D

I put the porch light on and it casts a great shadow against my garage. That works well too. You don't have to hit hundreds of range balls to practice effectively!

I, uh, go one step further.

I setup my laptop and camera and V1 home. I then draw some lines (swing plane, spine angle, head box, tush line) and watch as I tend to ignore all those lines in my swing.

Good idea.
