Should I go for Xbox or PS2? which one is more mod friendly? Or just forget about Xbox or PS2 and wait for the next generation?

Xbox is probably a lot more mod friendly....I paid very lil for modding mine! And suffice it to say Halo 2 is actually worth buying the whole system for! This game is going to super rock and I'm so excited! If you've played previous game b4, then let me know when ur ready to challenge us! ahahaha......
PS2 probably is a safe pick too, because it has so many titles and game developers to it....i'm not too sure about the modding aspect, but I think u still need to buy copied games to still play it....which is cheaper, but nowhere near the speed and efficiency of playing from a hard drive like Xbox has.......

Well, Ego I 'was' a pretty good player for QuakeII back in the old days. Now, just couldn't find the time to play any video games. Let's have a Halo party at Focker's place.
I think PS2 slim version is on sale for 159.99 this weekend. But then again, not sure about the mod specification for the slim version.
I am more into racing games like Grand Tsurisumo ... Does Xbox have any good racing games?

i think xbox is more mod friendly especially since you can insert a bigger harddrive and use it as storage.
PS2 does have better racing games at the moment. they actually have the better game selection (besides halo & halo 2)

We'll definitely be having that quite a few times!! :D

In terms of racing games, PS2 probably has the better ones...especially with Gran Turismo 4 coming out pretty soon!

My personal favourite is Xbox and ONLY because of Halo and Halo itself! I'm not a gamer but Halo is one of the few games I got hooked into. I did play PS2 and Grand Turismo and like that game a lot too. But Xbox is my vote! I can just hear the Halo theme song going and all the shooting sounds...dang...my thumbs have gotten really fat since we stopped playing Halo 1...waiting for Halo 2 now to exercise...hehe

xbox is definitely a fun system, the only thing i don't like about these CD loading game consoles is the wait time. i like the cartidge days where everything was instant loading.

I agree with Ego.....had my xbox modded and it's been nothing but fun ever since now that i've figured out how to download straight to the xbox. Also, xbox games are better graphics wise than compared to PS2

OMG yeah... xbox for sure!!!
I think both systems have good games but xbox has better graphics. I guess the only games i really miss from ps2 are the gran turismo series and the final fantasy series.
I dont' really play games that much, but what really sold me on the xbox was the fact that, once modded, it became a total media center. You hook it up to your home stereo and you can listen to your mp3 collection, and watch movie files instead of sitting in front of your computer monitor. You don't even have to have the files on the xbox itself... you can leave it on your computer and your xbox can read it from there.
Which one is more mod friendly? Well.... if you're paying someone to do it then it doesn't really make a difference to you which one is more mod friendly. But if you're doing it yourself, the xbox is definately easier. Only a few wires to solder for the xbox compared to a whole lot more for the ps2.
Good luck on your decision. I'm sure you'll be happy with either one but my vote definately goes to xbox.

yeah you can install a hard drive on ps2 as well. You need to buy software though to make fulll use of it. It's called Hard Drive Loader.
Once you install the new hard drive, and install Hard Drive Loader you can back up most ps2 games and they will load from the hard drive. Not 100% of the game will work though. If you want to make sure that all games will work then you need to get a mod chip installed as well.
