Played Don Valley yesterday as it was so beautiful out. Have not played there in years. Course was in good shape although the tee boxes needed repair. Strange thing was that we teed off at 2:08 and at 6:00 we just finished the 16th hole and this guy drives around with a air horn and kicks everyone off the course. Can't say I have ever experienced that before. I figured we still had 30 minutes left to finish our round but he would have none of it saying we had to leave for insurance purposes. I suppose the good thing was that I gave myself 2 pars seeing that they were short par 4's and I shot a 78!!! lol.

you can thank mayor miller cutbacks for forcing don valley to trim their hours in an effort to save $$...not cool in my books...hopefully my land transfer tax and car registration money will allow me to now play a full twilight round at don valley next year!!!

played there a few weeks back ...
one of the par-three holes had artificial turf (like at a driving range) on the tee-deck.
WTF?!?

Yeah from the blues, I think that is 16? I went up there, and decided to just hit down below as far i could go back, that turf stuff is junk, you can even put a tee into it.

It's like that for obvious reasons. Tree covered no light. Grass can't regrow fast enough and it is a tiny tee deck but from that distance and elevation it is a sweet hole. Heck I didn't even use a tee and put it within 8 feet so it's fine to hit off of. I don't think they ever should have reworked the 12th hole as it now plays as a 3 shot par 5. There is no benefit trying to clear the pond as even with a good drive you still need 230 to clear it airbourne.

that's their thing, it has nothing to do with insurance. I know someone who used to work there, their boss instituted it so they could be closed up and gone home before dark. They had it all summer that "no golf shot can be shot after 7:45pm" and stuff like that.

If you paid for a full round. Unless there are time restrictions printed on your green fee stub, they should have let you finish. Governments should not be running businesses that compete with private enterprise.

they have a little plastic sign in the pro shop but they don't tell you before hand, and if you complain they point out the plastic sign and say you should have seen it.
