how many just take a couple lessons here and there?

how many here are on long term lesson packages (5-10 lessons/year), year after year?

how many subscribe to the long term lesson package of buying clubs year after year? <I know this is the largest group...you're all club h***>

I'm usually pretty good for a couple of weeks after a lesson but have too many bad habits that come back. Hence my scores range from low 70's to low 90's depending on where I am in the lesson cycle. Usually I just do a couple a year so they don't really take.

For 2008, I have committed with my instructor that we will work together once every 10 days for 7-10 lessons. For me, it is just time to find some consistency so it's either pay up or quit.

Up until this year I had taken a lesson here, a lesson there. This year I signed up for a 3 pack and I feel it served me better than taking them once in a while. I found when you take them once in a while you get feedback for what is happening at that moment in time. So you get kind of a quick fix that may help you in the short term but nothing to address long term issues or what happens if your poor habits come back.

FOr example I was able to correct many of the aspects of my swing flaws with only one evaluation, but other flaws repeated themselves and it took longer to make those changes. My big problem this year was my wrists breaking to early and "flipping" the club at impact which would cause army golf particularily off the tee. I'm sure everyone here can relate to the loss of confidence standing on the tee and having NO idea what direction the ball is going to go! Very frustrating!!!!!

Anyway finally on my last lesson the wrist drill I had been working on FINALLY started to pay off, but it took 3 seperate trips to the instructor over the season. As I said I was able to resolve stance issues on the first lesson, and a swing plane issue on the second lesson, but it took 3 lessons to get my wrist issue addressed.

Next year I will probably spend the $ again for a 3 pack, it worked out well for me this year.

Define 'long term'. 3 weeks with the same driver is a long time for me.

I'm always working with someone on something primarily because I need a second set of eyes to see whatever we're working on.

I was put in one of the special skules as a child. It took me forever to learn to tie my shoelaces. I still have difficulty remembering if the bunny goes to his mommy first or goes around the tree first.

Does anyone make a velcro Golf shoe?

There is no doubt that properly fitted equipment has its place and that the OEM have a great reliance on we clubhos :cookoo: to upgrade on a consistent basis. I do however believe that consistent lessons have resulted in the single best improvement in my game. This is the perfect time of year to get working with someone but make sure they have great references and that you are open to changing things around. It may mean your game goes to crap for a while  but in the end it will be worth it.:)
