The golf season is over here with all of the courses closed, but for me it is just the start of next year's season.
I finished the year with my irons being a little off, so I started practicing in my basement to try and get my timing back. Prior to doing that I read up on a few of Jim Flick's tips. He said that the downswing started from the feet up. Foot, knee, thigh, hip. Thigh???? I had never really heard of the thigh being part of the swing. So in my practice I incorporated the foot up philosphy, in particular the thigh and wow. It really helps with the proper weight shift and rotation and it adds power. I'm not hitting any balls but I can feel the increase in my swing speed.
The thigh is totally different from the hips and you can turn the thighs without turning the hips as much. I don't even think hips in the turn. I also power my right elbow towards my right hip at the same time I am turning the thigh.
I have also started my fitness training and have started practicing putting again in the basement. Four months to go before I play again and I can't wait.
