I'd have to say that was the most unusual weather condition I played in.
In terms of weather that actually caused my physical and mental anguish, it was the time I took my clubs to Phoenix on a business trip. I'd been there before to golf, but never in July. Omigod! I thought this is what hell must be like, it was so hot. I think the temps was something like 110degrees Fahrenheit. I must have had downed one 500mL bottle of water PER HOLE. I could feel the moisture just evaporating out of my mouth. How can people live there? They're crazy.

Pouring rain and thunderstorm at Watson's Glen. We had to stop at the 3rd hole because the water was flooding the green. Otherwise, we would have been stayed on.
No golf in the morning ... you should know where we would go ... that's right, GolfTown - rain or shine.

Rain/Wind/T-STorms.......that's a standard to be classified as a golfnut! :D Only a matter of time until I try my hand on snow golf!....but probably not this year....

i'd have to say that in my VERY short golf career, the worse weather i've played in is when it was really hot in Toronto this summer, i'm a guy that perspires pretty easily. yuck! i know it wasn't as hot as in arizona but it was so hot i took my sweet time walking so that i wouldn't break into a sweat as fast haha...

Worst weather for me was just thunderstorm and heavy rain. Nothing crazy like snow or fog. Though I once played when there were tons of bugs. Everywhere you walk they would fly in your face or be in the line of your putt.

I believe it was mating season for one of those type of bugs!

Yeah, it was freaken annoying...what was more annoying were the girls we golfed with...screaming, yelling, and running away everytime one bug flew near them...slowed the round down dramatically....hahaha...

hmm I think the worst weather that I ventured out in was this past Civic holiday. I took a trip to the Niagara region and played a round at Eaglevalley. I was soaked to the bone and played 3 holes that way before the rain let up.
It was worth it though. There was no wait between holes. Me and my partner just played right through and it felt like we had our own private course because we did not see anyone else out there. :)

I have played in Decemeber and January once in Toronto. Which golf course?
Brookside @ Nelison and Finch, they are building houses there now. It should be around 98' or 99'. The golf course was clsoed and there was no flag. People put a piece of wood in the hole so that people can see it. Of course it's free and there were quite a few people out there that day. It's above 6 degree and snow was melting, muddy road everywhere as you can imagine.
But that was not the coldest day I had. The coldest day was in 02' Oct-Nov @ Annadale. Usually they were the last golfcourse close for the season. I went there by myself and join a group of 3. Temperature was about 4-6degree, with windchill, it was about -4.
On the first tee, I couldn't even put the tee into the ground, hard like a rock. After the tee off, I was 180 to the hole and played a 4 iron. I took a hit, and felt the vibration transfered from a stone like golf ball to my hands. It was a solid hit, but the ball only travelled 140 yards. At that moment, I understood one thing - you will graphite shaft iron for the winter. For the approach shot, the ball landed on the green but bounded right off, like hit on a cartpath. It was so cold that your finger couldn't feel the putter. I could remember how may stroke I made, but surely a lot.
2 guys went back to the club house after the first hole. But me and another guy insisted to walk 17 more holes. After the 3rd holes, I found myself a cold drink, the water bottle started frosting. Not bad! I did complete 18 holes alive but I will never do that again.

worst weather ever....in England over four hours it rained, sleet, snow, hail, gailwinds, back out to sunshine and 80* with short sleeve shirts. I got more exercise putting on and taking off clothes in those four hours than I do in a year.........
God, I love this game......:D

the worst weather for me has only been through some major downpours. funny thing is i usually shoot some of my best rounds in the crappy weather which makes it even harder to quit prematurely. maybe the wet clothes sticking to me is the trick. now if only i could market this :D
on two rounds i played, we were warned that lightning was moving into the area. :cookoo: there wasn't much rain and we didn't see any lightning so we thought it was ok. after we saw some lightning hit pretty close, we stopped until it passed. guess i should take those warnings more seriously.

42 degrees & humid as hell in Jamaica. I was sweating buckets & drinking a bottle of water per hole @ 3.50 usd a bottle. The water I drank cost me more than the round. In the end I was playing in a tank top & soaked in sweat. To top it off I was carting it with a caddie... hahahaha.... shot 81!

Wow
Had that same round about 3 years ago in a tournament here. We started in clowdy but spots of suns, that turned into heavy winds, followed by light drizzle then back to sun only to be replaced by rain then freezing rain and then hail. Once that was over and the greens were white it was sunny again with clowds and few more rain drops only to again be repalce by snow. Gotta love it. :p Only in Canada Eh???

One spring we played Lakeridge Links, it was problably 10 degrees or so all week, first round of the season, stepped out on the first tee on Sunday 7:00 am and there was a minus -9 wind chill, problably the longest & hardest round ever played. Brrrr........:D

I was playing that day @ Watson's only reason we finished, because we had the first tee time of the day. There was an actual river flowing down the middle of the 18th green, goes with out saying we walked of the course alittle water logged.

Worst weather was Thanksgiving in Tobermory-we play a "three club classic" on the 9 hole just outside of town. Teed off under sunny skies with a -5 windchill. Endured rain (downpour) then hail (or freezing rain) & near the end a virtual blizzard!!!!
3 groups ended up tied on the 9th hole - played it 2 more times - still tied- everyone had enough and went inside for some scotch!!!!
Also 3 years ago played Aurora on March 7th - 17degrees outside - played all 18 in a teeshirt - all ponds were frozen still so you could play your ball off the ice onto the green!!!

I used to be a member of the Oaks Of St George where they hold a tournament they call the Masters. The bad news, they hold it the same weekend as the real Masters. Dumb, I thought but of coarse I played. It was a mere -3 (not including wind chill which had to be a significant factor cause it was blustery). My group played down one before the sideways rain started. We listened intently for a horn signalling the end of play but none was heard. We played on in the sideways rain listening and waiting. It wasn't until after we'd hit our tee shots on 7 before they finally blew the horn. At that point I could no longer feel my hands or my face and I was 7 over par (handicap is 3). We walked in from there only to find that some groups hadn't even teed off. They wanted to hang around to see if the weather was gonna lift. I didn't have a change of clothes or anything so I bailed, went home and spent 45 minutes in the shower trying to regain feeling.

My worst round was in St. John's Newfoundland @ Pippy Park. Its a course on top of the city at the highest point. The wind there rivals anywhere in the world I guarantee. It was about 5 degrees, at least 60 km/hour wind and I was paired with a grandmother and her 2 young non-golfing grand children.
that round felt like 30 hours!!
There slogan is " Where par has yet to be broken!!"
tells you how much hell it is there.

While playing in our Tuesday night league we were trying to beat what looked like an in coming rain. Step on to the ninth tee when we heard this loud bang, big flash and heard a humming noise. Jumped in the cart and sped to the clubhouse. By the time we got to the parking lot the rain came down so hard, I had to poor the water out of my shoes.
Found out the next day that a tree less than 50 yards away from the ninth tree got split into pieces from the lightning strike.

P.S. Also played two years ago when the you could hit low screaming 3 iron and it would bounce the full 280. Like the battery bunny, just kept going and going and going.......The greens were so hard it was like trying to stick to concrete.

Some time before the May 24 last spring it snowed in Bracebridge. That was fun, we putted the ball and ice would fly off it every where.
