To avoid high brokerage fees, am I right in thinking that UPS is the carrier NOT to use? Is USPS the way to go?
Thanks...

while it does vary on a case by case basis, in general I always suggest go with USPS.
they tend to be slower, ( I am waiting on a couple driver heads that were shipped out from the US on December 18) do charge a small handling fee and there will be taxes and duty applied to the converted C$ value of whatever the item is declared at. ( although in many instances items get thru without)
if you have a need for a fast reciept then you can use a service where the brokerage and shipping is included in the upfront fee ( typically I get dinged $40 - $45) for a box of golf stuff......you will later receive a bill for taxes

USPS Global Express Mail is the way to go...no brokerage fees and gets here in 5 business days.

I'm waiting on a snowboard and bindings that were shipped on December 21st via UPS Canadian Ground (bokerage fees included) from Salt Lake City. I have a tracking number and when I run it, it doesn't show the travels of the package as it usually does. I'm kind of worried. So UPS isn't always faster. I've received quite a few packages via USPS extremely quick.

these typically clear customs quickly...thats why you pay for the extra .........hopefully it arrives soon
and yes I have received packages in 4 or 5 days via USPS but the average is about 3 weeks.........and I have had some take a few months
