Over the holidays, i got into a great discussion with some golfing buddies over what 18 holes we would replicate if we were building our own golf course.

Since we are mostly public course players in Ontario...we eliminated holes at private courses and the obvious like the 18th at Pebble etc.

So if you had to pick 18 and the only rules were they have to be holes on public courses in Ontario, What would those 18 be?

I searched in vain to see if a thread already existed on this, so if this conversation has already taken place let me know where i can find it.

Otherwise, I am very interested to hear what your dream course would include.

Around the GTA....

For Linkstyle golf course, I would probably take holes from Heathland, Eagle's Nest and Bondhead South.

For Parkland/North America style, I would pick holes from Hoot, Balllantrae, Copper Creek, and Woodington's 18th.

Holes I would include (Ontario public courses) would include the 3rd hole on the Lakeland 9 of Westview. 50 years later still one of the best par 5's I have ever played.

I would also include the 15th and 16th holes at Royal Ashburn. A 480 yard par 4 and then a 200 yard par 3 over water (back tees). I would also include the 11th hole at Kings Forest in Hamilton. Believe it or not I would also add the 11th hole at Dentonia. 185 yard cliff shot to a post stamp green with water on one side and trees on the other. Another par 3 would be the 13th or 14th hole at Kedron Dells. 240 yard par 3 with trouble all over the place. Another hole from Kedron would be the 5th or 6th hole which is the dogleg right out of the little shoot 450 yard par 4.

I would say we could have 2 categories for this. Under and over $100 green fees. As you can see my choices here fall into the under $100 courses. Maybe someone who can afford the triple digit green fees could put their 2 cents worth in as I can't!!
