Don't know if you've seen this yet, but it's an interesting article about tracking ball movement:

The Golf Channel says it will use radar technology to provide exact measurements of golfers' swings and ball movements during next year's PGA Tour. (http://www.supersnappy.com/3/5-pga-goes-high-tech-with-trackman.php?id=594)

They are giving info regarding ball speed, swing speed and launch angles on their telecast of the Sony open

I personally like it. IT is cool to see swing speeds, ball launch angles and I also like the line they show on the green to indicate the break, as TV flattens out the undulations.

I am not a huge racing fan, but find myself watching racing more when they have the displays on the screen showing what gear the car is in, engine RPM etc. Then they go into a corner and you see how fast they downshift to stay in the power band and then upshift in the straight aways.

I think this will really help overall ratings, particularily if a tournament isn't that exciting because one player (usually TIger) has a big lead or something like that.
