I happened to stumble upon this site today. It's has a large database of courses in North America and best of all, it's free!!!

http://www.customscorecards.com/

You can print a custom scorecard for yourself with the date, handicap tracking, and stat tracking like putts, girs, fairways, etc...

I just made up a fake scorecard and it took all of about 40 seconds to do. I can see this site coming in quite handy for myself as I like to keep track of my stats but I usually have to carry a course scorecard to know the yardages and a seperate stat book for putts, girs, and fairways. Now it's all combined on one scorecard.

Just figured some of you might be able to use it...I just like how it's free. :D

Nice find! my home course isn't on their database but they allow you to add new courses. Cool. Humm, just need to print these onto some card stock. :D

Yeah, it appears you can easily add your courses too.

I was thinking of just picking up some matte finish bristol/poster board, cutting it up to fit the printer and away I go....weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

Now I feel bad, I've been printing cards off that site for a few years and doubt I ever thought to post the link. :(

That is wicked. Thanks for posting this...I always made my own by checking out the course website, and then hand making it from there. This is soooo much easier!!

Cheers!

I am assuming that people are using these scorecards to assist in keeping stats as Kace mentioned in the first post.

I never keep stats as I don't really see how it would help me improve. I think I have a good idea at any given time what my strenghts and weaknesses are.

Do you guys just do this as a hobby, or do you think it helps you?

I use the stat and handicap tracker on LMG. It's nice because you can pull up your stats for any time period so I like to see what my stats were during the first half of the year vs. what they were in the second half. There was a huge improvement last yeat because I really started working on my short game half way through the summer last year.

So take that for what it is but I enjoy keep my stats and I also find they show me what needs to be worked on and what sort of improvements I'm makiing.

I don't really track anything though I usually count my putts up at the end of the round. Even then I'm more inclined to judge my putting by how I putted, my focus and went thru my routine than by the total number of putts.

The best stat I used to keep was the number of good shots (full swing) I hit in a round. Funny thing was when I was over a certain number I usually shot in the seventies but when I was under, even by one or two, I shot high eighties or worse.

Howie, I used to call a shot a good shot if I hit it solid and the result didn't hurt me. So a drive that went 260 and is in the first cut of rough with a clear look at the green was a good shot. A well struck iron that doesn't hold the green is still a good shot. If I hit the wrong iron but hit it well it was still a good shot.

I found it a more positive approach to just think in terms of balls i hit well. Someone like me with a draw could miss every fairway but have 11 perfectly playable drives just off the left edge in the first cut. So there is no sense, imo, to beat myself up for missed fairways.

There was a very strong correlation between what I called good shots and my scores so any liberties I took over traditional stat keeping wasn't a big issue.

On the other side, if i'm on the fringe of a green I generally count that as a putt when I track putts provided it is a puttable fringe.

I figured I'd bump this up now that the season is here.

Awesome thx for the post:)

Hmmmmm....For some reason I thought you received a stroke on the courses hardest holes, based on your handicap.
Ex: If you were a 10 handicap you would receive one stroke each on the 10 hardest holes.
I put together a sample card with a 10 handicap index and received 11 strokes. Tried the same with an 8 and got 9, etc...
I wonder if this "system" truly calculates handicap strokes based on slope too? If it does, this is really an awesome site!

In order to calculate your handicap at any given course on a particular set of tees, multiply your index by the slope for that set of tees and then divide by 113. You then round the number to the closest whole number to get your handicap.

Hope this helps.
