Seems like a nice course.

That said, this is a course that I really enjoyed when I was there last:

thanks for those akrus...

I actually frequent Two Guys Who Golf often and already know about those, but thanks all the same.

It's supposed to be a good course...but I'm just wondering if anyone has some first hand experience. I don't want to spend a ton of cash so I'm trying to find the best for the money.

Silverstone - day of arrival
Oasis Palmer
Wolf Creek
Angel Park Mountain
Paiute Sun Mountain

Anybody golfed in vegas and have any suggestions?

The only one I kinda don't know about is the Angel Park course. I want to play there because its so close to the strip and doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

Any info?

Just got back from a trip to Mesquite. Flew in and out of Vegas on Spirit Airlines out of Detroit. Cost of flight was $350 US (Cdn. doesn't matter anymore). And a week in Mesquite was $865 for 7 nights/ 7 rounds. Played Falcon Ridge, Casablanca, Canyons, Palmer course (twice) and Wolf Creek (twice). So for $1,200 we had a good cheap trip. Stayed at the Eureka Hotel and Casino and the food in the Casino was inexpensive. Breakfast was under $5.00 and dinner less than $12.00 and you got lots of food.

How many times do you go away and play a course once and say to yourself afterwards..."I wished I could have played it again." Well, we purposely played the Palmer twice, because it is home of the Big Break VIII. It also happens to be one of Arnold's better designs. Definitely 5*****'s.

Then, Wolf Creek.....all I can say is unbelieveable. Another 5*****'s. The views from each tee block were jaw dropping. I ran out of film. Yes, I haven't gone digital yet. I heard that it cost more than $80 mill to build it. They had to helicopter topsoil and other materials to the far reaches of the course, because they couldn't get trucks and big equipment in there. Here are a couple of pictures, I hope you will enjoy.

Have a good trip, Bullet. Try not to leave too much green stuff in Vegas.

I posted this response last month. We went to Mesquite, the last week of October 2007. Had a fabulous time. Can't wait to go back. Pictures are from Wolf Creek. Have a good trip and report back when you get home.

I just got back from Vegas and Mesquite (returned January 3rd). Vegas was the warm-up for Mesquite, so we didn't want to spend a ton of cash. We found a deal between sister courses, Sienna and Red Rock for $63 each after 12pm.

Sienna was a very nice course, as was Red Rock. However, one of the greenskeepers dumped some sort of acid (the stuff they use around the bunkers to give it that dead brown look) all over the fairways on the last 3 holes at Red Rock, basically killing the holes and turning them into par 3s. I'd say for the usual price of golf in Vegas, the $63 each deal was still worth the money.

In mesquite we played the Palmer, Canyons, Falcon Ridge and one day we went to St. George Utah to play a round. My favourite of the courses we played was Falcon Ridge. I thought that the Palmer course conditions were garbage (given that it should be trying to cash in on its recentbig break fame) and that the Canyons course actually had a nicer layout.

The reason that we didnt bother with Wolf Creek was when i called to book the course the lady was very rude. She told me that we wouldn't finish a round in under 6 hours. When i started to question her about the playing time, she cut me off and said "do you want to book a tee time or not?" Nope.

I have a bunch of pictures that i tried to post, but as i don't have them uploaded on a webpage, i can't figure out how to attach even thumbnails anymore.

When you're making a post, there's a button under"Attach Files". Then just choose browse and look for the pictures on your computer to upload. That should do it. :)

Ah Yes... I need to click "post reply" and not "quick reply" to get to that option. The first pic is of Falcon Ridge, the second pic is the Canyons and the third picture is the 18th hole at the Palmer course.

The conditions on the Palmer were fantastic at the end of October. The Big Break was played in the summer and the overseeding was done near the end of September, so the course was very green when we played it and the greens had a nice speed to them.

Falcon Ridge had some good holes, but 10, 11 and 12 were g*d awful. Number 10 (400 yards) has the creek running up the middle of the fairway with O.B. on both sides. :cookoo: Number 11 is a short par 4 with a blind landing area off the tee (even with a long iron of the tee) and a severe 3 tier green that you are coming at from the side. The pin location when we played it, was at the back of the green; maybe a 30 yard square landing area. :cookoo: :cookoo: And number 12 is a medium length par 5, where I hit 5 iron off of the 2nd back tee deck, short of the cart path and pond; then another 5 iron over the pond, short left of the green and a 9 iron to the green. :cookoo: :cookoo: :cookoo: Those three holes in succession ruined the whole course.

Too bad you didn't play Wolf Creek, but it is definitely a 5 1/2 hour round. The second day we played it, we teed off at 12:40 and played number 18 in semi darkness at 6:00 pm. The rangers were on the course, escorting everyone back to the clubhouse (no matter where you were), because you can't drive on those cart paths in the dark. They have had numerous accidents, broken arms and legs on that golf course. You have to sign a waiver before you tee off. Great course though.
