For my son, in his 3rd year golfing. He needs a good set of game improvement irons without so much offset as he's hitting the ball better all the time now. Only interested in pick up, preferably near the west end.

So that'd be a 'no' to some new SE600XC's?

He's actually drooling over the golfsmith book right now. He'd love a set of 600XC's but he needs cavity back's
(:nono: )
plus I gotta play with this guy so I'd have to say no on those lovelies.

The 600XC's ARE cavity backs - low offset, CoG low and back...
I played them until I discovered the love for Wishon 560MC's. I bought another set of 600XC's to play them side by side (or at least build the 7 or 8 iron) to see if there was a huge difference between them or not (both being forged min offset cavs).
I'll be in the GTA early in the AM in mid Feb if you change your mind... ;)

Lowpost, I suppose they are cavity backs but they're definitely a players iron, not a game improvement. Beauty clubs, but like Weirfan said, aren't they righty's?
SRT4SS, thanks. I'll keep it in mind.

The new SE's the 675's I think are only right handed. However the 600XC's from last year would be an excelent choice. THey are left handed, cavity back forged head, with a slight off set. Call Golfsmith and ask if they have any sets left of the 600 XC's.
If not have a look at CObra's. Nice head for a player in his category.

Game improvement irons. :D I have this friend, who is really afraid of blades(im switching to one soon), and yes he is really afraid, he always say ITS HARD TO HIT, i say the other way around.. he insisted ITS HARD and so on. Told him that you said it yourself its HARD, so IT WILL BE HARD. So I suggested that dont think its HARD think its EASY, started to grab my Dad's irons(Bang Blades really thin ones, i was using it that day), so he took his stance and hit the ball, ball went far and straight. Asked him "SO is it HARD?" I guess the point is, way before game improvement irons were developed, players started hitting balls with blades, i mean get an old footage of players hitting balls long time a go, when they dont have the game improvement irons yet. But they still hit the ball good, I'm not againts game improvement irons, but if you really wanna see results on your swings, blades are the best. You will certainly know when you hit it the wrong the way it gives you the feedback when struck. That way you'll know for yourself that I did something wrong, hey if they can hit blades long time a go, why cant we right? Its a free world, we have our own preferences i guess... just me sharing my opinion :D

That's an interesting take on things. You should start a thread about this becuase there are plenty of golfers here who have experience with both blades and cb's, and can give a pretty informed opinion on it.
