It is broadcast in HD on Versus in the US - not sure why canadian cable / satelite companies haven't picked it up... oh yeah, because no one even wants to pay the premium to get it digital - not to mention HD>

Here comes the next thing Rogers will screw us with.
For years as a single man I didn't have cable because I was rarely home and when I was I didn't really watch tv. Mostly the reason was I refused to pay the $50 hook up fee so they could sell me their service every month.
Then I got married and we got cable. I had to get the Ultimate TV pack just so I could watch the golf channel. A few years down the road they suddenly move it to digital with a very lame excuse as to why. We all know the real reason was because the golf channel got the contract to broadcast the tour events on thursdays and fridays.
Ok I moved over to digital (numerous battles ensued due to the poor quality of digital signal in my neighbourhood and their notorious bad customer service)
As soon as the golf channel goes HD then Rogers will ding us again and after I'm done belly aching about it I will pay the fee because I have to have some golf to watch to get thru the long winters.

I'd pay extra for HD...
I think some people got upset when Rogers bumped The GC up in price with no benefit towards the consumer.

I'd pay extra too - I barely watch the GC anymore since it's not HD.

Bell charges you a fixed rate for the HD bundle with the exception of a couple channels that you may need to pay for additionally. I hear that Rogers charges you extra for certain HD packages.

Rogers would charge you extra for the air you breathe in your home, if they could figure out a way.
I love the "extra outlet fee" of $7/mth - wish Ted himself were in the foursome ahead of me at a scramble golf tourney

Actually, it's likely because Versus is the hockey channel in the US. And there's no way the Canadian sports channels will allow another channel into Canada that shows hockey.

I can never figure out my rogers bill. Cell phones internet, cable. Based on there invoicing I save hundreds of dollars every month, heck they say I save more than I ever have to pay!!!!
If they want an extra 2 bucks a month for HD golf channel I will pay it. I bought this TV 3 weeks ago and last weekend I see golf on Sat afternoon on NBC. YES!!! I say and go look for it. It was old coverage of the qualifying tourney, but :confused:man it looked incredibly real. I think the Bob Hope should be on a regular network this weekend...I Hope!

...and I'm sure THE SPIN will be something like...."...we haven't increased our rates in xx amount of years, but with the cost of implementing our state-of-the-art infrastructure...."

Surely you wouldn't split the signal yourself?:shhh:

When I got my cell phone from Rogers I got on their MY5 package and got dinged for making long distance phone calls to people on MY5, so I converted to local/long distance & pay less and can call who I want to now.

The Golf Channel is in HD in a few select markets only... We don't get TGC in HD in Arizona nor in Nevada or California. I believe its limited to some of the eastern states. I too feel your pain! I want TGC in HD!

It was ruled many years ago that this charge for extra outlets was illegal. You pay for the service to your home and what happens in the home is none of their business. I don't get why you're being nailed the extra $7.

I'm guessing, as I said above, that thi shas to do with the fact that Versus is also shows a lot of hockey on it and I guess they feel that there's not a big enough market in those states to broadcast the hockey/golf there.
