Hi,
I am looking for a electrician to change a panel in the Bathurst/Finch area. I believe it is a old 100amp and would like to replace it with a new breaker panel.
Please send a PM.
Thanks, Ed

When you call for a quote they will want to know if it's 60 or 100 amp right now because the cost will be higher if they have to upgrade the service. Somewhere on the panel will be a sticker telling you what it currently is but a lot of the older homes in that area are still 60 amp. Good Luck.

Thanks Dave. I think you are right regarding 60amp.. My usual electrician is on holidays in the former Yugoslavia(Croatia) for a couple months. Thanks for the advice.

These guys sometimes appear on Holmes on Homes. We had them install potlights in our house. Their work is excellent, and they follow the electrical code to the tee. Everyone from the owner, Frank, to the actual people doing the work were nothing but knowledgeable and honest. We would definitely use them again next time we need stuff done.

Thansk SW20. I'm also looking for some electrical work done and I've always wanted to know who are the guys that do the work on Holmes on Homes.
BTW, When I purchased my home and requested for a 200amp box (recommended by my father-in-law). During my inspection the guy said to me "So what are you planning to grow here?" Now I know how over kill 200amps really is.

Actually Vball having seen about 25 grow ops, the preferred method is to tunnel through the foundation and hook up on the other side of the meter so 100 amps is plenty.;)

Very interesting. Free power adn nobody the wiser. Some criminals are quite clever. If they could only transfer all that effort and passion for something legal.

Why would they? It's highly profitable and our justice system basically slaps them on the wrist and they go start another one up. Until we actually scare these guys with severe jail time, they'll never stop. Niagara Falls is getting it right. They're dozing down the grow ops after they're busted.

Well thats a whole other bag of worms. Legal distillaries and tobacco farms kill and harm far more lives then POT ever will. Specially alcohol.
So does McDonalds and th elike for that matter.:D

It's not a POT issue at all. It's very dangerous to have these operations in residential areas. The other problem is our weed is sold in the U.S. and traded for guns and stronger grugs.

Since you've been in Real Estate a long time, I'm sure you've encountered more than a few 'Grow-Ops'....what happens to the homes after they're busted? I imagine they go back on the market, but what does the "owner" have to do/and what recourse does a buyer have?
Some insight would be interesting, or maybe you could point us in the direction for info!? Thanks. :)

It varies depending on the situation. In most cases the owners play dumb and blame their tenants so they are never charged which is an absolute crock. The homes go on the market in varying condition. Some are as is, some have the mold removed and that's about all, and some are fully restored with new drywall, wiring, plumbing etc. These are the ones that are problems because very often the owner doesn't disclose the grow op history, sometimes the Real Estate agents hide it or don't know either.
I knew of a Markham grow up and when I saw it sold I phoned the broker and the agent before closing and told them they had better tell their buyer about the history. I saw it close, so I knocked on the owners door and asked if he knew and he said no so I told him to get a lawyer and sue their butts off. My advice? No matter how good a deal you get, walk away from any grow op house.
