Hi. Has anyone any experience with the GTA Golf Club. You buy a membership and get discounted golf at certain courses. Is it on the up and up?

Hi Paul,
GTA Golf Club is a sponsor here and they have a section in the Affiliates section. There are news on some recent partnerships they have acquired that I found very promising.

Does anybody know what other courses will be added to their offering? If I recall correctly, they mentioned Piper's Heat on their recent offering to TGN members didn't they?
It looks temptimg, I'm just worried that I may end up not finding any available tee times ...

mirak, you might want to send a pm to GTA_Golf_Club. I'm sure they can give you an idea of the soon to be available courses.

Looking at the "rules" section of the GTA Golf Club website http://www.gtagolfclub.ca/rules.html the catch seems obvious, and unsurprising. They have only a limited number of slots at their discounted price, and the courses may or may not have a tee time available. Thus the need to book *twice*, once with GTAGC and then with the course.
When the going gets tough, during a sunny week in July, will the courses book me at the discounted rate or someone else at their full rate? And if they will take me, will my tee time be during daylight hours? The course will know I am a discounted booking - how to avoid being treated as a second-class duffer?
It does look like a good deal, and I'd be happy if a GTAGC rep could explain in some detail how this will work, and why it isn't too good to be true. For example, how have the partner courses agreed (in their contracts with GTAGC) to treat the GTAGC members? Details might be helpful.

Hey, welcome aboard (this being your 1st post!):)
....I too had some questions about their program (I haven't joined, yet)...I was hoping they could arrange it like similar to the way LastMinuteGolfer does!

RalphNoTiger,
Welcome to Toronto Golf Nuts and thanks for your interest in the GTA Golf Club.
Our program is very simple:
1) Book a spot at an available course via our website (7 days advance booking)
2) Call the course to ensure tee time availability
3) Check in with the pro shop with your GTA GC member card and photo ID.
When booking your tee time with the course, you have access to the same tee times that anyone else would have access to. There are no restrictions on tee times at any partner course, unless specified on our website.
You do not pay green fees at the golf course, you pay the GTA Golf Club directly.
GTA Golf Club members are treated like anyone else at our partner clubs.
I hope this clears things up for you a bit. I realize we are a new concept in the GTA. We have been serving the London area for the last two years with our third season coming up (www.londongolfclub.ca), so we have a lot of experience with the program and how to make it work best for both our members and our partner clubs.
If you, or any other TGN members have any additional questions, feel free to give me a call, I'd be happy to spend some time to familiarize you with the program.
Thanks,
Scott

Hi Big Shooter,
Thanks for your interest.
If our partner clubs have an online booking system, there is a direct link to it in our booking process.
As I had mentioned in a previous post, we will be constantly improving the system like any good company would.
The system has proven to work well with our London club thus far. Once you book a round you will see it isn't as daunting as you may think...and remember, the best thing about our program is the money you save playing golf!! (not to mention the discounts and offers you receive with our awesome partners).
Again, please call with any additonal questions.
Thanks,
Scott

Hi mirak,
We just added Glen Eagle and Eagles Nest (officially).
We are working through some details with a lot of other clubs right now and you can look forward to more club announcements very soon.
You will always have a place to play golf, that I guarantee.
Check www.GTAgolfclub.ca regularly for updates.
Thanks for your interest,
Scott

Thanks for your reply, Scott. You make it sound pretty straightforward, and hopefully your program will be a success.
I know you already have on board some of the courses I like to play. Any golf glory being deep in my past, I realized a few years ago that I just wasn't having much fun being beat up by the big courses, and have settled in to playing more courses I at least have a chance of taming.
And thanks for the welcome, BigShooter. Just 5,288 more posts (now 5,287) and I will be in your league.

No problem Ralph.
We are looking forward to a great season for our members and our partners.
Watch for more courses coming on board.
If you play more that 6 rounds/year and like to play a variety of courses it might be a good fit for you.
Thanks again,
Scott

Hi. I went to a Nevada Bob's on the weekend and the manager had never heard of the GTA Golf Club. And he said it was not mentioned at the Manager's meeting the previous week. Can you explain why?

I am not surprised. Sometimes it seems some of NB's staff haven't heard of much at all.

This is a newly formed partnership between Nevada Bob's and the GTA Golf Club. The partnership with Nevada Bob's and the London Golf Club has long been established and we are building on that relationship and carrying it on in the GTA.
It doesn't surprise me that the manager hasn't heard about the partnership yet. We haven't really officially "launched" any deals for GTA GC members yet, once we do, the managers will be informed.
Thanks,
Scott
