The reason I'm asking now is because I want to make plans and do the booking fairly early.
So what are some recomendations for a nice 3 or 4 golf getaway destination for the summer? I was talking to some people from Virginia at a booth at a golf show and that seemed like it might be nice. Anyone share some experiences they have had?

If you have time you can travel up along highway 20 / 132 in Quebec. It's the main highway with plenty of accomdations and good golf courses.

PEI, Nova Scotia.

I'd recommend Northern Michigan, Gaylord area. Went there last year the week following May 2-4 and am doing so again this year. Golf courses everywhere you turn.

Virginia is super for golf, but they roll up the sidewalks at night. 2 Super tracks there are Kingsmill and Golden Horseshoe.

Hey Guitarman,

Eight of us (Kirkland Laker's) are going to Northern Michigan (Boyne Mountain) for the May 2X4 week-end. It is our 3rd annual trip. 750 kms for us but really worth the trip. Really good deals this year with the $$ at par...

I am a big fan of this area, I vacationed there in 2001, 2002 and 2003 and going back this coming September. PEI is a great golf destination but a bit far to go for only 3-4 days unless you plan on flying in.

I can't say that I'm fond of the big city.

This looks like a big possibility. I'm thinking of going up the weekend before the long weekend. My wife doesnt' want take the chance that traffic will be bad on the May 24 weekend and I don't mind having 2 long weekends in a row.

I'd recommend Northern Michigan, Gaylord area. Went there last year the week following May 2-4 and am doing so again this year. Golf courses everywhere you turn.

Do you have a link?

Personally I wouldn't book Northern Michigan in advance for May. It will not be busy and the weather can be questionable there at that time of year.

A week before would be ample time to book. If the weather is nice, it is a tough place to beat for quality golf although there is little in the way of nightlife unless you consider a 24 hour Denny's nightlife.

So where would be a good place to go where there might be some non-golf attractions without going to a big city like Chicago?
And I just realized the weekend I have planned is the long weekend? Crap. Due to my band schedule this will be the only weekend I can go. Why the heck do they call it May 24 weekend if May 24 lands right on a Saturday and still is not the long weekend?
What will it be like going across the border on the long weekend? Its not a holiday in the US but will the border be backed up badly on the friday of the long weekend? Whats the best time to go across?

We have already book and had to change some of our plans because it was already booked. If you wnat to play 36 holes a day you better planned your trip yesterday...lol.

We usually try to play at 9:00 to 9:30 then 2:15 to 2:30.

Always play a different course and this year we need tee times back to back.

Don,T wait too long it gets really busy. We never had too much problems at the border (but we are going through Soo Michigan).
